Man’s chief difficulty

Man’s chief difficulty seems to be simply this:

in his limited and finite understanding he does not have the vision

of greater and vaster and higher and deeper and broader expanses of God’s Truth.

~ “Feast of Tabernacles”

What’s the Difference Between Rhema and Logos?

What’s the difference between rhema and logos? If you look around the Internet, you will find many opinions. Some think there is a difference and others think there is no difference. Here are some of the popular opinions. Don’t take them too seriously. Don’t let them make your head spin. They are just opinions. Although most of those who seek to answer this question assert that they have the final answer, when you read their reasoning, you can’t get down to true premises that actually prove their claim.

Quotes from random webpages:

Rhema is what flows from one person to another as a personal communication. Logos is what God wants; rhema is what God wants of me. Logos is the right way to act; rhema is the right thing for me to do in this specific situation. Logos is education; rhema is revelation.

Rhema is taken as the spoken word or the teachings of the Christ himself, Logos refers to Jesus himself.

Logos as a concept in Greek means a written word. Thus, bible itself is Logos.

When you hear a sermon in the church coming straight from the mouth of a minister, this is the Rhema.

Rhema is the right now word, word from HIM that gives you a sense of direction and joy and excitement of knowledge.

Rhema word is the word for your current situation telling you what to do.

Logos is the uttering of Christ himself; it is the spoken word communicated through Bible. Thus, Bible is an example of Logos.

Logos is the entire communication process.

The Spirit’s voice in our hearts is one example of rhema.

In the Bible, rhema refers to speaking, regardless of who is doing the speaking.

Rhema means (spoken) word, whereas logos includes thought (hence logic)

Rhema is not just the spoken word, but any means by which the Logos (the substance of what is being communicated) is conveyed. Written text, spoken text, text in Hebrew, Greek, English, etc are Rhema. Logos is discerned from Rhema.

Rhema is expression only versus logos as the thought from which expression springs.

A rhema is a verse or portion of Scripture that the Holy Spirit brings to our attention.

Logos refers to the total inspired Word of God and to Jesus.

Rhema occurs as words leave one’s lips.

That was a listing of what various theologians think. It could make you a little dizzy. Most of that doesn’t hold up when you look at the definitions of the two words or when you look at how the words are used in Scripture.

Here are the actual translations of the two words:

Looking at both words as they are used in Scripture, they refer to the spoken word of God in most cases, but sometimes they refer to other words spoken that were not from God.

Here’s an example where Jesus is talking about words the people speak. He uses both the word “rhema” and the word “logos.”

Matthew 12:36-37  But I say unto you, That every idle word <rhema> that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.  For by thy words <logos> thou shalt be justified, and by thy words <logos> thou shalt be condemned.

There may be a difference, but I don’t see it. When I sought the Lord on the matter, it seemed to be something not to be concerned about. Both words mean speech. Mostly, they refer to a word from God. Those words may be spoken by God directly or through a person.

Here’s what God has emphasized to me. He knows how to communicate with His people. We hear His voice. We know His voice. We can discern it from other voices.

The way God showed it to me, God speaks through the Bible and every means of divine revelation mentioned in the Bible. In the Old Testament, where the translations say “word” the original text is saying “spoken word.” When preachers read “the word of God,” they often assume the passage is speaking of the Bible. It is a much more general term. If you have the Bible, you have the word of God because God speaks through the Bible. That doesn’t mean you hear the word of God since you may just hear your preconceived ideas and never listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit.

God also speaks through the things He does. Here are two examples where God speaks through what He does.

Acts 5:30-32  The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. Him hath God exalted with his right hand [to be] a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. And we are his witnesses of these things (rhema); and [so is] also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

Luke 1:37 For with God nothing <rhema> shall be impossible.

He also gave us the first chapter of Romans in which He says He has revealed everything that can be known about God and the Godhead. And then, He indicates that these things can be seen through the things God has created. Also, God refers to the gifts of the Spirit as the manifestation in 1 Corinthians 12.

We’re Learning to Lean on Jesus

I’m learning to lean, learning to lean, learning to lean on Jesus. Finding more power than I’ve ever dreamed. I’m learning to lean on Jesus.

You might think you already know some things. if so, you will have trouble hearing Christ. Learn to lean on Him rather than your own understanding.

Don’t Get Ahead of God’s Leading

Christ leads, teaches, and corrects all who follow Him. We need to make sure we are following Him and not leading Him. If we are following Christ, He may command us to command something in the world around us. He may command us to say to a sick person, “Be healed.” When we yield our mouths to the Holy Spirit, Christ can say, “Be healed.” through us. If we get out ahead of God, we can start commanding things God never asked us to command. We need to live in His teaching. We need to live in His leading. We need to live in His correcting word when we get confused or get ahead of Him.

Is Evolution a Fact?

Is evolution a fact? It depends on how you define evolution. If evolution is simple life forms changing over time until you have all the variety of life we can observe today, then evolution is a story. It’s an explanation of the observable universe that fits a certain philosophy. If evolution is the changes we observe from one generation to another, then evolution is a fact. We can observe scientific facts over and over. We can’t observe the story about millions of years. That story is one of the explanations of things like changes we observe from one generation to another.

Why Are Things So Crazy?

Here’s why things are so crazy. (TWO MEMES)

And this is the verdict: The Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness more than light, because their deeds were evil. John 3:19

And They All Get Put in Boxes and They All Come Out the Same

And they all get put in boxes, and they all come out the same. Don’t let the world squeeze you into its mold. Break free. Realize who you are in Jesus Christ. Christ wants to transfigure into His image and likeness as a powerful instrument of His glory. If you look to Him, He will show you the way. If you allow the world to bind you, you may miss out on your destiny.

Avoid This Or It Will Lead You Into an Endless Problem.

Avoid this mistake. Here is the simple way of thinking that will make wisdom flow to you and bring knowledge to you. Most people can give a reason for what they think. Some people can’t even do that. They just make statements with nothing behind them. They are shallow thinkers making bare claims. If you ask them how they know, they can’t answer the question. Usually, they just change the subject and make another mindless bare claim. Deep godless thinkers can give a reason for their claims. They offer proof. However, they can’t prove their proof.

Example:

A man says, “Evolution happened over millions of years.” You ask, “What makes you think so?” The man says, “It’s science.” You ask, “What have scientists observed that proves evolution?” The man says, “Fossils! They have observed fossils?” You ask, “What makes you think the observed fossils prove evolution happened over millions of years?” And this can go on with an infinite regression of unproved proofs. On a subject like this, a well-educated evolutionist might be able to continue for an hour or longer before the evolutionist either runs out of things to say, circles back to circular reasoning, or just realizes it’s all made-up stuff.

That’s what the infinite regression fallacy is all about. Without truth, all claims end up in this mess of fallacies. A wise person will begin to question his or her reasoning and realize that ALL truth is hidden in Christ. Everyone already knows this. Some people are in denial and don’t want the righteousness that comes with Jesus Christ.

Why Presuppositions Don’t Lead to Understanding or Knowledge

Why don’t people want to know Jesus Christ? Why do they choose insane alternatives? The following statement in the meme is insane. Presuppositions consist of made-up stuff. It makes no sense to use the propositions of Scripture as made-up stuff. This isn’t that hard. You can know Jesus Christ. If you sincerely seek Him, you will find Him. It’s that simple. Then, if you follow Him, He will lead you. If you depend on your own understanding, you are lost. If you think you can rationalize truth, you are lost. If you turn to Jesus, He is the only Source of all truth, knowledge, wisdom, and righteousness. When you try to self-generate any of these, you become a self-righteous fool.

Always Learning but Never Coming to a Knowledge of the Truth

Godless thinkers can never come to a knowledge of the truth because the human mind can’t reason to truth. Truth must be revealed. Only God can reveal truth, and God has hidden all truth in Jesus Christ. There’s only one door to sanity, and His name is Jesus Christ.

This Is a BIG Problem for Atheists

This is a BIG problem for Atheists, Agnostics, and Skeptics. It means they can’t be rational, but they love to think of themselves as the rational ones. Rational thought is not an option for them.

Two-thousand years ago, Agrippa the Skeptic realized that the human mind has no way to reason to truth. What he discovered destroys science, philosophy, and all human thinking. Rational thought must be based on truth, but the human mind can’t reason to truth. Humans can observe imperfectly and incompletely, but they can’t reason about what they observe unless they can get truth from outside themselves. Since Agrippa didn’t know Jesus Christ, the only Source of all truth, Agrippa assumed no truth could be known. Of course, if no truth could be known, then Agrippa couldn’t know that no truth could be known. It’s a terrible problem.

Fortunately, God has provided a way we can know the truth. God’s way is called divine revelation. God speaks to every person. He reveals natural reality and spiritual reality. Romans one says He reveals everything that can be known about God and the Godhead, and He makes it plain through the things He has created. It takes a hard heart to look up at the night sky without sensing the divine presence. He speaks through the Bible and every means of divine revelation mentioned in the Bible. He speaks through prophecy, a word of wisdom, a word of knowledge, a still small inner voice, angels, conscience, intuition, and Christians who are speaking by the Holy Spirit. We’re learning to discern His voice from all others. As we mature in Christ, Christ is formed within us and our deceptive fleshly nature decreases. The second letter to the Corinthians tells us, in the third chapter, about the fleshly veil that keeps us from hearing God’s voice even when He speaks to us through Scripture. However, It also tells us that the fleshly veil is taken away when we turn to Christ. In those moments when we look away to Jesus, our vision clears. We see reality as it is. We know the truth. We can be rational. Right now, those glimpses are precious. They may be few and far between. We may get wrapped up in our doctrines as the Jewish people did. We may be so convinced of our presuppositions that they seem real to us. God’s plan is that we come into the presence of Christ and stay there seeing reality and flowing with His wisdom. If we listen to the voice of Jesus, He will be our teacher. Then, we will know the truth, and the truth will set us free from all sin.

This trilemma goes by several names. It’s Agrippa’s Trilemma. It’s also the Münchausen Trilemma. Schools don’t teach it or teach it in an irrational way because it defeats every godless form of thinking. Philosophers have tried to find ways around this trilemma over the centuries but have all failed. Every once in a while, someone comes up with a supposed “solution,” but there is no solution other than truth. And there is no Source of Truth other than Christ. Fortunately, anyone can know Jesus Christ.

ALL Truth is Hidden in Christ

Do you understand the impact of the fact that all truth is hidden in Christ? Without truth, there can be no rational thought. Without truth, no one could know anything. Without truth, people can have opinions, but they can’t know anything. They may use trial and error to find some things that seem to work. They can get Ph. D.s, but they can’t know anything. They can’t even know that they can’t know anything. Think about that.

However, Christ is the Light Who lights every person who comes into the world. His light shines on every person. The trouble is that some people hate the Light and turn from the Light. They walk into darkness. That’s why the world is so mixed up. They don’t know right from wrong. They don’t know reality from make-believe. It started in small ways. A lot of Christians thought it didn’t make any difference. They dreamt up ideas about the age of the earth. They keep changing that story. They call that story “a theory,” but it’s just a story that doesn’t work. Then, they came up with the stories of evolutionism. They called those stories “science.” Some Christians tried to fit those stories into the Bible. Some Christians started disregarding parts of the Bible because they believed these stories and believed a lie that said these stories were “science.” Those who don’t know Christ started to destroy the family. They started to move the responsibilities of families into government and Sunday school. They slowly destroyed all that is good. It’s taken hundreds of years. Consider the sexual revolution. It is a revolt against God, and it is revolting to anyone who still has a working conscience. Now, society goes into insanity. Consider the atrocities that have been forced on people recently in the name of science, medicine, and a fake morality that is actually immorality. And now, insanity is in style and sanity is considered wrong.

ALL Scientific “Knowledge” is Tentative

ALL of what is called “scientific knowledge” is tentative. In other words, it isn’t known in any real sense. It’s just the current opinion. ALL divine revelation is absolute. If you fail to thank God and give Him the glory for the knowledge He reveals, you lose the distinction between reality and make-believe.
