I’m going to quote Thayer, but keep in mind that Thayer was not a Christian and his work often adds a twist. You’ll see this here in the words “distinguishing certain.” Commentaries, marginal notes, and reference texts are not Scripture. Many of them contain errors brought in by the fleshly mind of educated Christians who meant well but depended on their own understandings rather than the Holy Spirit. Not only that, but Atheists, Unitarians, and Masons have worked to corrupt reference texts and commentaries. Thayer gives you this:

grace or gifts denoting extraordinary powers, distinguishing certain Christians and enabling them to serve the church of Christ, the reception of which is due to the power of divine grace operating on their souls by the Holy Spirit

 

Thayer’s twist is in his claim these gifts distinguish certain Christians as if God left some Christians out so only certain ones can serve the church of Christ. That’s not true. God detailed these gifts in 1 Corintians 12. They reveal the Spirit and are “given to each one.” (verse 7) No one is left out other than those who refuse to receive the gift.

But the free gift (charisma) is not like the offense. For if by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many. ~ Romans 5:15 New King James Version

You receive the free gift of righteousness by grace. Grace is the means of righteousness. Grace is the means of good works. It’s not the other way around. Good works are not the means of grace. Grace is the means of good works. Grace does the righteousness as you shall see from Scripture.

One that God cherishes so highly that, when He sent Him into the world, He said, “That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:15)
God is absolutely satisfied with Calvary. There need be no more additions, no more modification.
Calvary has been the total return of sons back to Him.
There is nothing so profound as Calvary, and Calvary came that you might have life and have it abundantly.
The austerity measures are only the measurements of man because Calvary is beyond measurement.
There is absolutely no way you can measure the quality or the quantity of life that comes by Calvary.
Calvary has the capabilities of washing away the sins of the human race so that they all are like a newborn babe without any consciousness of guilt.
Calvary takes care of the problem that existed when the Israelites were required to follow rules and regulations, and atonement made once a year by being covered by the blood of a lamb but always being made conscious of their past.
In comes a sweeping magnificent redemption by His Son that can take away the sins of the entire world for every man that would believe.
Oh, to have the appreciation for the Son is something, but He is going to do something else.
He (Christ) s going to create a bride, a bride of unusual splender.
When this restoration plan comes, you are going to find the microscopic place that we will be taking because it is His desire to have this people.
He will separate men unto Himself. He would choose men and cause them to be shaped by various experiences.
You cannot measure the matchless grace of God.
I believe the end of sickenesses, the end of disease, the end of death is embodied in the church.
He has the capabilities of literally changing my mortal into immortality while I yet live.
God knows I think about it, I ponder over it, I commune about it, I want to enter into it, beyond the power of death, beyond the powr of sickness; no longer can sickness touch you.
He (God) must have this peculiar people that you are; He must have this body that He has talked about, which He is the head of to be the agents in the reconciliation.
You don’t have to be skillful to minister the ministry that God has given you.
Oh, what a glorious thing to know that you can speak by an unction from above far beyond your ability to reason and to analyze.

If you get grace and the gift of righteousness, you’ll reign in Life by Christ Jesus.

Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. You are part of the group called “all men” or “all people” or “many.” The free gift came upon you. You shall be made righteous. You aren’t doing the work. God gave you the free gift of righteousness. God does the work. God will make you righteous. Even now, Christ in you doesn’t sin. Your flesh does no righteousness. And God has a plan to remove the stain of your fleshly nature.

Today the masses of believers linger in these porches waiting for the moving of the waters so they can be healed or filled with the Spirit or know or what Spiritual gifts they have or waiting for God to take them home for today holds nothing for them. Did Jesus wait? No.
The Holy Spirit is here to make all that Christ purchased available now.
We have no magic or power of our own, but He (the Holy Spirit) came into the world to reveal Christ in you.
He (the Holy Spirit) is the One God has sent to make known all the wisdom of the ages.
He (the Holy Spirit) is the great revelator of the power of Christ.
He (the Holy Spirit) wrote the Book and He will reveal its wonders.
As He (the Holy Spirit) moved over the earth in the beginning of time, He will move over you now to unveil Christ.
Endless Life is in His (the Holy Spirit’s) hands.
He (the Holy Spirit) is with us now, the Spirit of the most high God to make all that Christ has purchased for us, ours now.
You may be able to believe in endless life after death in the distant unknown, but He has come to make it available now.

He (the Holy Spirit) is with us now, the Spirit of the most high God to make all that Christ has purchased for us, ours now.
You may be able to believe in endless life after death in the distant unknown, but He has come to make it available now.
All I can say, “May all members of this glorious body of Christ come together so the glory of all ages can fall upon us.”
He (the Holy Spirit) alone can separate His sheep from the machinations of me.
