Each time you yield yourself to the Holy Spirit and to God’s righteousness, you overcome in some small way.
Yielding is surrender. It’s ceasing to resist the will of God. It’s ceasing to try in your own effort to do what you want or what you think will impress or what you think would be righteous (self-righteousness). You could say it this way: salvation from sin to righteousness is by grace, and grace is through faith, and faith comes by hearing God’s rhema (the Living Word/Utterance of God). That’s a lot to consider, but you probably know the Scriptures behind it very well. In all of that, we have nothing to add to what God is doing except to yield, surrender, stop fighting or trying to help God do what only He can do. Also, the meme says you overcome, but when you overcome or become an overcomer, it is God Who is overcoming within you as you yield. What is being overcome? Christ is being formed in you while the strongholds of the rebellious fleshly nature are being toppled. That is, the darkness of the fallen first Adam is giving way to the Light that is Jesus Christ. It’s a lot to unpack, and I’ve tried to give it to you in very few words. I hope that makes it easier to understand. Does it make sense when you think about it that way?
