When Jesus says, “their deeds were evil” He is talking about sin. Sin is either slipping or stepping off the Pathway to life. Jesus Christ is the Pathway to Life. We receive Jesus Christ as the Holy Spirit leads, teaches, and corrects us. If we listen and yield to the Holy Spirit, we are on the Pathway to life. As God speaks, faith comes. Grace is through faith, and grace does the works of God and says the words of God through us as we yield. As we yield to the Holy Spirit to the point of obedience, we are changed. As we yield to the Holy Spirit to the point of obedience, we are on the Pathway to life. Whatever is not of faith is sin.
