Someone may want to do something for God that God never asked them to do.

Someone may want to do something for God that God never asked them to do.

Someone may want to do something for God that God never asked them to do.

Some people say, “I’m going to do this for God,” but God never asked them to do it.
(Quote from https://realreality.org/downloads/how-god-will-transform-you/)

Some people say, “I’m going to do this for God,” but God never asked them to do it. Some people say, “I’m going to do random acts of kindness,” but God’s works are never random. Some people say, “I’m going to pay it forward,” but my righteousness is like some filthy rags to God. Fake “works of piety” can be a way I feed my pride and get recognition. Fake “works of piety” are just one more way to do what I want to do instead of doing what God wants me to do.

Suppose a dad tells his son to mow the lawn. The son starts painting the house a different color instead. Has the son done the will of the dad?

Let me emphasize it again. Good works are a gift from God to you. Good works are not a gift from you to God. It’s easy to get the effect before the cause.

If I try to establish my own righteousness, I fail to conform to the righteousness of God.
