The fleshly nature is sold under sin

The fleshly nature
is sold under sin

The fleshly nature is sold under sin

Romans 6:20-22 “For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. But what fruit were you getting at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life.”

To be free from God is to be a slave of demonic torment, sin, sickness, and death. To receive Christ as Lord and Master is to be a slave of Christ’s Spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, humility, inner strength, and faith. Divine wisdom and knowledge are part of the package.

John 8:34 “Jesus answered them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin.’“

And it is indeed slavery.

Romans 7:14-15 “For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am of the flesh, sold under sin. For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.”

That was the Apostle Paul speaking. He does go on to explain that the fleshly nature is sold under sin, but he no longer identifies with his sinful nature. This is a very important point. We ought not to identify with our fleshly natures. We ought not to see each other after the flesh. We now identify with the Christ within. Christ in you never sins. Your fleshly nature can’t do anything but sin. Christ in you is holy and growing. Your fleshly nature can’t be reformed, but it is diminished each time you yield yourself to the leading and power of God for righteousness.

If something is done without faith, it is sin (Romans 14:23). But faith comes from hearing God’s leading (Romans 10:17), which means true faith listens to God, trusts God, and follows God. Sin, then, is anything done without God’s direction, while righteousness is letting God lead and work through you.

Many churches and schools emphasize rules and traditions instead of teaching people how to listen to God and follow Him. But God is patient, always working to bring His people into a deeper understanding of His truth.

Ask God to answer these questions.
What are the fruits of being a slave to sin?
What are the fruits of being a slave to God?
What is your fleshly nature?
Why shouldn’t you identify with your sinful nature?
What does it mean for you to yield to God’s power for righteousness?
Bonus questions:

What does it mean for you to be “free in regard to righteousness” if you’re enslaved to sin (Romans 6:20)?
How does the fruit of sin that leads to shame and death contrast with the fruit of sanctification and eternal life (Romans 6:21-22)?
How can you be set free from sin and become a slave of God?
Why is everyone who practices sin a slave to sin?
Why should you stop identifying with the sinful, fleshly nature but rather identifying with Christ within?
Why can’t you reform your fleshly nature?
How does your fleshly nature diminish each time you yield to God?

YOU ARE SLAVES OF THE ONE WHOM YOU OBEY Romans 6:16-18YOU ARE SLAVES OF THE ONE WHOM YOU OBEY

Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

No one is excluded.

Psalm 51:5  “Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.”

When Adam and Eve obeyed the devil, they became a conquered nation in slavery to the evil one. As a conquered nation, their children were also part of that conquered nation. When anyone is born, that person is born with a sinful nature. Only Christ can transform that sinful nature.

Romans 6:16-18 says, “Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness.”

That’s how it all started, but we can be transformed by yielding to God’s grace as God’s grace says God’s words and does God’s acts through us. The flesh dies a bit each time. Christ is more fully formed each time. It starts with God leading. We hear. Jesus Christ, God’s Word, authors faith in our hearts and then finishes it. Here’s how Christ finishes God’s faith in us. Faith gives us access to God’s grace. God’s grace does God’s work through us as we yield. We must yield and allow it. We can’t be headstrong to do our own will or figure out things for ourselves separate from God.

Remember the Parable of the Sower. The Bible says the seed is the Word. In another place, it says Jesus Christ is the Word. So the Seed is Jesus Christ.

Ask God to answer these questions.
What does the Bible mean that all have sinned?
Why were you born with a sinful nature?
What does it mean to yield to God?
Adam and Eve enslaved humanity to sin. They became a conquered nation. How does this “conquered nation” analogy explain the sinful nature in every person who is born?
What is the deep meaning of the Parable of the Sower?

Bonus questions:

When you yield to God’s grace, how does that lead to your transformation and the death of your flesh?
What is the role of faith in accessing God’s grace and enabling God’s work in you?
What does the Parable of the Sower teach about the role of God’s Word (or Jesus Christ, the Seed) in your life?
Why can’t you figure out things for yourself separate from God?

God wants a relationship with you

God wants a relationship with you

God wants a relationship with you

Some people teach this false doctrine: they say, “Go ahead and sin. It won’t hurt you. Jesus will forgive you.” Peter wrote about that, and in 2 Peter 2:19 he said, “They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved.” Liberalism seeks to be liberated from the righteousness that is a free gift in Jesus Christ.

Some people claim to be sinless, and we will all be sinless one day. Christ who lives in us is sinless, but we each have a carnal nature that can’t do right. You can’t reform your carnal nature or fix it. You can refuse to do what it tells you to do. You can read 1 John 1:8-9 that says, “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” The word “sin” means stepping or slipping off the Path. Jesus is the Path. If we tell God we’re sorry for stepping off the Path and not following Jesus, God will say, “I forgive you and wash you clean.” Then He will put you back on the Path of righteousness (what you do) leading to holiness (what you are becoming) where you jumped off the Path. He’ll put you back into the presence of Jesus so His Spirit can lead you.

God doesn’t tempt you. The devil, the world systems, and your sinful, carnal nature tempt you. For example, James 1:14-15 says “But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.” And yet, you are set free if you receive Jesus Christ as your Savior from sin and slavery. Look at what John 8:36 says, “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”

While many churches and schools emphasize rules and traditions instead of teaching people how to listen to God and follow Him, God wants a relationship. In that relationship, He leads and is the power in you for righteousness. He explains this in Romans 14:23 where is says anything not done in faith is sin. Then, in Romans 10:17, He explains that faith comes by listening to Him. Jesus said, we live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Life and everything good starts when God speaks and we listen and yield ourselves to His love.

Ask God to answer these questions:

What does it mean to be a slave of corruption?
In what sense can you live sin-free right now?
What is your carnal nature?
What does it mean to step off the Path?
How does God forgive you when you sin?

Bonus questions:

Who tempts you to sin? (Name all of them.)
Why can’t your carnal nature be reformed or fixed?
False teachers promise freedom (2 Peter 2:19) but are slaves of corruption. Their false teachings enslave people to corruption. What do you know about modern examples of this?
What does it mean for you to be free indeed, especially when facing temptations?
Why does God allow temptation?

THE LOVE OF GOD

THE LOVE OF GOD

THE LOVE OF GOD

OH, LET THE LOVE OF GOD

Oh, let the love of God
be shed abroad
in your hearts by the Holy Ghost.
Love one another,
for love is the key,
To enter the Kingdom of God.
Behold! How good and how pleasant it is
for brethren to dwell in unity,
For there the Lord commands His blessing,
Even life forevermore.

The consequences of sin are terrible

The consequences of sin are terrible

The consequences of sin are terrible

Romans 6:20-22 tells us about sin’s slavery. “For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. But what fruit were you getting at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life.” Jesus said, “everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin.” (John 8:34)

Paul explained something that most Christians still don’t understand. You are not your sin once you are born again. You still have sin dwelling in you, but Christ also lives in you. It’s like you are two different people at the same time, but only one is the real you. You are the Christ living you. Christ in you can’t sin. That’s why you need to concentrate on Jesus and listen to Him. You can’t allow your fallen carnal nature to control you. Read Romans 7 if you would like to know more about this.

The good news is that you can be set free from sin’s slavery. For example, Galatians 5:1 says “For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” So, you don’t need to sin. You can do what’s right by the power of God’s grace. You get God’s grace through faith. And you get faith by listening to God’s leading, teaching, and correcting voice.

The consequences of sin are terrible as Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Sin leads to death, but there’s a spiritual law that can overcome the law of sin and death. As Romans 8:2 says, “For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.”

Ask God to answer these questions:

How can you still sin if Christ lives in you?
What does it mean for you to concentrate on Jesus?
How do you get God’s grace?
What is the law of the Spirit of life?
How is being a slave to sin different from being a slave to God?

Bonus questions:

What is the fruit of sin, and why does it lead to shame and death?
What does it mean for you to have sin dwelling in you while you Christ also lives in you?
Why is it important to focus on Jesus and not the carnal nature?
How does faith allow you to receive God’s grace?
How does grace do what’s right through you as you yield to God’s Spirit?
How does the “law of the Spirit of life” overcome the “law of sin and death” in you?
How does the devil use the culture, media, and education to try to drag you into sin?

EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDETH OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD

EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDETH OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD

EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDETH OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD

Some people think they’re perfect or at least pretty good. Some people think sin is OK and won’t hurt anyone. Some people think their particular sin is OK because they were born that way. Some people think they are stuck with sin. None of those are true. And yet, God knows all about every sin you have committed, and He has a plan to set you free so you will never sin. That will be how it is once the Holy Spirit transforms you into the image and likeness of Christ. That’s true. That might seem like something too big to believe, but let me explain.

Everyone is born with a problem. We’re all born as slaves to sin. That means we’re born as slaves to the devil. For example, Romans 3:23 says “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” And Psalm 51:5 says, “Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.” Every person was born sinful. Every person was born a slave to sin. Some people say, “I can’t help it. I was born this way.” On their own, they can’t help it. But Jesus will set them free if they allow Him to do it.

Not only was everyone born a slave to sin, everyone also has sinned. And, when they sin, they become slaves of the one they obey. The devil tells them to sin, and they do it. Oh yes. Every thought you have comes from one of three sources: the devil, your mind that is a slave to the devil, or God. And you know the difference between the voices. For example, Romans 6:16-18 says, “Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness.”

While many churches and schools emphasize rules and traditions instead of teaching people how to listen to God and follow Him, God desires a relationship with us. Romans 14:23 says that anything not done in faith is sin, and Romans 10:17 explains that faith comes by listening to Him. Jesus said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” True life and everything good begin when God speaks, and we listen, trust, and yield ourselves to His love. This is righteousness—allowing God to lead and work through us, rather than relying on our own efforts.

Ask God to answer these questions.
What does it mean to be a slave to sin?
Since you were born sinful, how can you be set free from sin?
Why do people sin if they know it’s wrong? How about you?
What does it mean for you to be set free by Jesus?
Why does sin lead to death?

Bonus questions:

What does it mean for you to be a slave of righteousness?
Why do some people believe they are perfect or that some sin is acceptable?
Why is that fact that you were born sinful not excuse sinful behavior?
How does the Holy Spirit transform you into the image and likeness of Christ?

Oh Ye Mighty Men Of Valor

Oh, Ye mighty men of valor,
Stand on your feet I say,
We’re headed toward a new age,
Where death has no more sway.
We’ll be changed with brand new garments,
As we look upon His face,
Coming forth in His creation,
Israel will have a race.

Oh, Ye mighty men of valor,
Stand on your feet, I say,
Lift your hands to Jesus,
Help is on the way.
And just remember you won’t fail,
If He has called you to this Day,
Rejoice, rejoice, you army,
And keep marching toward this age.

Bob and Charlotte Torango

God is now calling us to a much higher place of authority in Him.

The age of the earth

The age of the earth

The age of the earth

The age of the earth has sparked heated debates—even among Christians. Prominent Christian theologians rushed to find some way to fit billions of years into the Bible when they heard that “science” says “The earth is billions of years old.” No one wants to be accused of being unscientific or ignorant. To fit with what the world was teaching, theologians had to put the billions of years between the words “In the beginning, God created . . .” and the words “God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” Every attempt puts billions of years between “In the beginning . . .” and “male and female he created them.” Here’s the problem. Jesus said: “But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.”

A second problem comes up. Either the Flood caused the rock layers or billions of years caused the rock layers. It can’t be both. (You find out more about this here.)

According to a Barna poll, 14% of people who no longer trust the Bible’s accuracy cite this reason: “Science says the world is old.”  But science doesn’t talk. Science doesn’t have opinions. People have opinions. Science is supposed to be a method that is unbiased and always challenging every opinion. The trouble is that people are involved and people are biased.

Why do so many believe the earth is billions of years old? The usual answer: “Because most scientists say so.” Why do so many scientist say so? Because they think most other scientists say so. How many have critically examined the evidence for themselves, and how many just believed what they heard in classes, saw in videos, and read in books? Most scientists feel pressured to conform. In science, you risk your career if you ask certain questions. If you challenge certain sacred cows such molecules-to-humanity or billions of years you lose status. You can even lose your job and your career.

Christian apologists explain and defend the truth of the Christian faith using Scripture, logic, evidence, and philosophical arguments. However, Christians who focus on apologetics often drift away from Christ and into a cold intellectualism that can never lead to truth or any fulfillment in Christ. They often leave the Holy Spirit out of it. They try to defend God while accepting the idea that God doesn’t reveal truth. They try to depend on the carnal human intellect. No one can read Scripture or observe nature objectively. The Holy Spirit must interpret everything.  If the Holy Spirit isn’t leading you, you will follow what comes out of carnal minds that have locked Christ out. We believe what’s written in the Bible because the Holy Spirit testifies to the truth of the Bible.

Ask God to answer these questions:

  • Why do some people think the earth is billions of years old?
  • Science is a method. It doesn’t talk. Why doesn’t science say anything about the age of the earth?
  • Why do ungodly people use surveys or public opinion to get their way?
  • Why do some scientists believe in evolution or an old earth?
  • What does the Holy Spirit have to do with understanding the Bible?

Bonus questions:

  • What is Christian apologetics?
  • Jesus said: “But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.” How does this destroy the idea of billions of years?
  • Why do some Christians trust what is called “science” over the Bible regarding the age of the earth or other issues?
  • How does the appeal-to-popularity fallacy apply to the belief in a billions-of-years-old earth?
  • What pressures or risks might scientists face when questioning mainstream views like billions of years or molecules-to-humanity evolution?
  • What role does the Holy Spirit play in helping you interpret Scripture and nature?
  • Why do some Christians drift into intellectualism through apologetics and hinder their relationship with Christ?

No one wants to be accused of being unscientific or ignorant.

No one wants to be accused of being unscientific or ignorant.

No one wants to be accused of being unscientific or ignorant.

Oh Ye Gates Of the Lord

Oh Ye Gates Of the Lord

Oh, ye gates of the Lord,
open wide in one accord,
For the King stands inside,
He will not be denied.
Then beckon all who will hear,
for this marriage is near,
Of Body, Spirit, Soul;
Blow the trump! Let’s go!

The alternative story to the history in the Bible.

The alternative story to the history in the Bible.

The alternative story to the history in the Bible.

The world tells an alternative story to the history in the Bible. It’s the story of molecules-to-humanity evolution and billions of years. Molecules-to-humanity is a story of nothing becoming molecules and molecules becoming humanity. Godless thinking claims this story is science. It’s just a story, and it doesn’t work. Some say it’s a proven scientific theory that fits the evidence. It does not fit the evidence. If it fit the evidence, it wouldn’t violate any scientific laws. A scientific law describes a consistent, universal pattern in nature that has been observed to occur without exception and never been observed to fail. Here are the scientific laws it violates:

  • The Law of Cause and Effect
  • The Law of Biogenesis
  • Mendel’s Law of Genetics
  • The First Law of Thermodynamics
  • The Second Law of Thermodynamics
  • The Law of Information Systems
  • The Law of Irreducible Complexity
  • Statistical Mathematics

While scientific opinion is ever-changing and isn’t about truth, these laws are the most solid things science has to offer. And the story of molecules-to-humanity evolution and billions of years violates all these laws. There are many other scientific problems with the molecules-to-humanity story. The ungodly system uses coercion, groupthink, message control, funding control, threats, ridicule, and whatever it takes to protect and promote this insane story. Those who believe in nothing-to-humanity can become very dogmatic. They have an argument for everything, but none of their arguments make sense. That’s why they resort to making fun of Christians who believe the Bible and use pressure against them. The main problem with the story of nothing-to-humanity is that the Holy Spirit doesn’t testify to it. The Holy Spirit agrees with the Bible as it is written. While the scientific community makes many mistakes, the Spirit of God cannot lie.

Many Bible-believing Christians rationalize a belief in old-earth theologies. Some of them even include evolution in their written belief systems. None of this comes from the Bible. What most of them don’t realize is that the secular stories about billions of years all eliminate or greatly modify what the Bible says about the Genesis Flood.

In the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. ‘Where is the promise of His coming?’ they will ask. ‘Ever since our fathers fell asleep, everything continues as it has from the beginning of creation.’ But they deliberately overlook the fact that long ago by God’s word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water, through which the world of that time perished in the flood (2 Peter 3:3-6).

Ask God to answer these questions:

  • What is molecules-to-humanity evolution?
  • Why do some people believe in evolution?
  • Why do some Christians believe in old-earth theories?
  • What does the Holy Spirit say to you about the story of evolution?
  • How can you remain faithful to the Bible as you respond to ridicule or pressure from those who support godless scientific theories?

Bonus questions:

  • What is the Law of Biogenesis and how does the idea of molecules coming to life violate this law?
  • Why do evolutionists dislike what the Bible says about the Genesis Flood?
  • How does the “molecules-to-humanity” story violate the scientific laws listed in the text, such as The Law of Information Systems or The First Law of Thermodynamics?
  • Why do proponents of the molecules-to-humanity story believe their arguments are valid despite the listed objections?
  • Why do some good Bible-believing Christians try to put old-earth theologies or include evolution into their belief systems?
  • How does Satan use the godless stories of evolution that put death before sin to undermine the Bible message that death is the result of sin?
  • How do you see 2 Peter 3:3-6 fulfilled as scoffers deliberately overlook the Genesis Flood and creation by God’s Word?

OH WRETCHED MAN THAT I AM: ROMANS 7

OH WRETCHED MAN THAT I AM: ROMANS 7

OH WRETCHED MAN THAT I AM: ROMANS 7

If the body rules, the result is death
If the Spirit rules, the result is life.
Life and peace, life and peace
If the Spirit rules it means life and peace.

O Wretched man that I am, who shall deliver me from the body of this death.
Thank God, through Jesus Christ our Lord; Jesus Christ our Lord.

To the Spirit now we are all in debt.
We don’t owe this body that’s filled with death.
You will live, you will live.
If your bodies deeds you will put to death.

O Wretched man that I am, who shall deliver me from the body of this death.
Thank God, through Jesus Christ our Lord; Jesus Christ our Lord.

Hold your body down; hold your body down;
Never punch as one who just beats the air.
Keep your flesh in control.
Don’t punch as one who just beats the air.

O Wretched man that I am, who shall deliver me from the body of this death.
Thank God, through Jesus Christ our Lord; Jesus Christ our Lord.

If this earthly house must die and dissolve,
There’s a House of God that’s not built by man.
Now we groan for that body,
For that house that is not made with hands.

O Wretched man that I am, who shall deliver me from the body of this death.
Thank God, through Jesus Christ our Lord; Jesus Christ our Lord.

With my mind I find that I serve the Lord,
But my body is still a slave to sin.
Body dead due to sin
But the Spirit’s life due to righteousness.

O Wretched man that I am, who shall deliver me from the body of this death.
Thank God, through Jesus Christ our Lord; Jesus Christ our Lord.

He that raised up Christ from the grave and death
Shall give life unto your own body too.
If the Lord dwells in you.
If the Spirit dwells in you, you’ll live too.

O Wretched man that I am, who shall deliver me from the body of this death.
Thank God, through Jesus Christ our Lord; Jesus Christ our Lord.

Now Behold I’ll show you a mystery.
We shall not all surely, surely die.
We’ll be changed–all be changed.
When this mortal puts on immortality.

O Wretched man that I am, who shall deliver me from the body of this death.
Thank God, through Jesus Christ our Lord; Jesus Christ our Lord.
