Holy Spirit speaking through the Bible.

Holy Spirit speaking through the Bible.

Holy Spirit speaking through the Bible.

Many people think when the Bible talks about “the word of God” it’s talking about the Bible. That’s not true. And yet, the Bible is God’s word. That sounds like a contradiction, but it’s not.

The Bible is the word of God because it’s one of the ways God speaks. While there are many ways God speaks, no other revelation will ever conflict with the Bible. God never conflicts with Himself. For example, Acts 17:11 lets us know we should use the Bible to check if something is true or false. One word of caution. It’s very easy to get confused between our interpretation of Scripture and Scripture itself. Allow the Holy Spirit to correct your deepest preconceptions and interpretations of Scripture. Scripture says if you think you understand anything, you don’t understand it as you ought to understand it. Two words are used in the New Testament: “rhema” and “logos.” The word “rhema” refers to God’s leading whether through the Bible or any other means by which God speaks. The only Scripture where “logos” seems to refer to the Scripture is Mark 7:13, but even that is not explicit. We know this. The Bible never speaks to us without the Holy Spirit speaking through the Bible.

We know the Bible is reliable because the Holy Spirit confirms this fact to us whenever we ask Him about it. Nothing that has been observed in science has ever conflicted with Scripture, but many tricky lies and false ideas have conflicted with Scripture. The same is true of archeology or other areas where humans try to explore reality. Over the years, historical discoveries have consistently confirmed the Bible’s accuracy in describing events, places, and people. Archaeological findings and ancient manuscripts support the Bible’s reliability, showing that it’s not just a collection of stories, but a record of real events. Experts and scientists often present their opinions as if those opinions were facts, and those opinions often conflict with the Bible. Later, we find out the opinions of the scientists and experts were wrong, and then they come up with new wrong opinions and errors. Despite being written thousands of years ago, the Bible is still true today. Nothing real has ever been shown to conflict with the Bible. Some people say they are right to distrust the Bible, but those people don’t know the difference between reality and made-up stuff.

No observation conflicts with the Bible. No divine revelation of any kind conflicts with the Bible. Divine revelation often conflicts with interpretations of the Bible.

Ask God to answer these questions:

When the Bible refers to “the word of God,” how is that different from saying “the word of God” is the Bible?
How has the Holy Spirit shown you the Bible can be trusted?
What do you do when so-called “scientific discoveries,” “theories,” and “expert opinions” conflict with Scripture?
Why does Divine revelation often conflict with interpretations of the Bible?
When the Scripture uses the phrase “the word of God,” what is it talking about?

Bonus questions:

How do you know science or history will never prove the Bible wrong?
Why do some people not trust the Bible?
How could listening to ungodly council and the opinion of godless thinkers distort your thinking?
Since most of what comes through the education systems, news media, and entertainment is godless, what does God tell you right now about those things?

OH LORD MAKE ME WHAT YOU’D HAVE ME BE

OH LORD MAKE ME WHAT YOU’D HAVE ME BE

OH LORD MAKE ME WHAT YOU’D HAVE ME BE

Oh Lord, I come before You with my humble plea.
I pray You’ll give me strength to do all you ask of me.
In times when I feel all alone I want to see Your face,
And when I struggle, Lord, I ask that I may feel Your grace.

Oh Lord, make me what You’d have me be.
Lord, please break me. Cause my eyes to see.
Take away the doubt that keeps me from You, Lord.
Help me to do what You ask of me.

Sometimes Your way is not the way that I would choose.
And sometimes, Lord, I regret the things that I must lose.
But now I know You’re teaching me to put my trust in You.
Make me strong so I accept the things You want me to.

Oh Lord, make me what You’d have me be.
Lord, please break me. Cause my eyes to see.
Take away the doubt that keeps me from You, Lord.
Help me to do what You ask of me.

God speaks. But how does God speak?

God speaks. But how does God speak?

God speaks. But how does God speak?

God speaks. But how does God speak? Some people say, “If God speaks at all, God only speaks through the Bible.” That’s not true. And yet, God does speak through the Bible. God speaks through the Bible and every means of divine revelation mentioned in the Bible. He leads, teaches, and corrects every person who follows Him. Others have said God speaks primarily through the Bible, but the Bible doesn’t say that either. The Bible does say God can’t lie and He’s all-knowing and the Bible was written by Him through people. That means you can trust what God says through the Bible, and no revelation will ever conflict with the Bible. It means the Bible will never conflict with itself. The trouble isn’t with the Bible. The trouble arises with rationalized interpretations of the Bible.

Sometimes, we forget to listen to God, or we don’t believe Him. Sometimes, we forget to follow Him, but His plan is that we would come so close to Him that we never forget. God’s will is that we always stay in His presence listening to His voice and yielding to His power for righteousness.

God speaks to people in various ways, both directly and indirectly. When the Father speaks, He always speaks the Living Word. The Living Word is God, and Jesus Christ is the Living Word. Think about that. Ask God to explain it to you. God speaks through the Holy Spirit Who flows from the Father and Jesus. John 16:13 says, “When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth.” The Holy Spirit is always present. We must learn to seek His presence and yield to His power for righteousness. According to Scripture, here are some of the primary ways God communicates:

Through the Bible (Scripture)
Through Conversations with God
Through the Holy Spirit directly
Through Creation
Through Circumstances
Through People when they are Speaking by the Holy Spirit
Through Visions and Dreams
Through Inner Peace or Conviction
Through Signs and Wonders
Through Conscience or Intuition
Through Angels
Through Prophecy
Through a Word of Wisdom or a Word of Knowledge
Discernment of Spirits
Tongues and Interpretation of Tongues

Ask God to answer these questions:

Some people believe God speaks only through the Bible. What does the Bible say about this belief?
What role does the Holy Spirit play in guiding you into all truth?
How can you make sure you’re staying in God’s presence and yielding to His power for righteousness?
How is Jesus Christ, the Living Word, different from Scripture?
How do different ways God communicates to you like visions, dreams, or prophecy, fit in with what the Bible says?

Bonus questions:

How should you respond to someone who claims to have heard from God in ways that seem unbiblical?
How should you respond to someone who claims to have heard from God when the Holy Spirit doesn’t tell you that what they say is true?
How should you respond to someone who claims to have heard from God in ways that conflict with the way God spoke to you?

Imagine there’s no ath-iests
God tells us they all know.
No agnostics or skeptics
All putting on a show.
Imagine all the wisdom
Flowing from above.

I…
Imagine no ungodly,
And none who push and shove.
No killing or destruction,
No stealing, only love.
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You…
You may say I’m just dreaming,
But this vision’s from the Lord.
I hope someday you’ll join us
And you too will know the Lord.

Imagine God’s own presence,
Each moment of each day.
No human greed or hunger
Christ leading all the way.
Imagine all the faithful
All who hear His voice.

I…
Imagine no more liars,
Those stories of the past.
No more man-made dogma,
Religion that can’t last.
Imagine all the freedom
Jesus Christ revealed.

You…
You may say I’m just dreaming,
But this vision’s from the Lord.
I hope someday you’ll join us
And you too will know the Lord.

Just a note: the stories of the past and man-made dogmas are those extra-Biblical ideas that Satan has secretly inserted into the church. They are doctrines and histories that may quote Scripture, but they interpret Scripture using hidden (or not so hidden) assumptions.

Grace and Power

Grace and Power

Grace and Power

(These principles are universal and apply to divine healing or anything God puts in your hand to overcome.)

Yes. Christian Kids are healing the sick in Jesus Name.

You recognized your new identity in Christ and the authority and responsibility God has given you.
You invited God’s presence and stood in God’s Presence listening to His voice.
When you heard God’s leading, faith came and a greater authority came with that faith.
This is the final step or executing the power of grace to solve the problem.

Some people think of grace as forgiveness. A dictionary may say it’s kindness or courtesy. God’s grace is power to do God’s will. Do what God leads you to do by the power of God’s grace. Whenever God leads you in anything, He is giving you authority in that thing. You must pray His words His way as He leads you in the moment. His words will come from your mouth if you can yield yourself to His Spirit. You might even call it prophetic prayer. Receive it from Him and His faith will be in you for the work. He will give you a vision of hope. God’s hope is absolute. It’s not the hope-so hope of the world.  It’s an absolute vision of what God intends to do. Don’t try to define what this vision will be like. It may even come in a feeling, a word, or an intuition. Yield yourself to God’s Spirit and the power of His grace to do the healing, and follow the direction He is giving you.

Every time you listen to God’s voice instead of your own carnal mind and yield to His Spirit to do His work His way by His power, you are dying to self and living to Him. The old man dies away, and the New Man comes alive more completely. Think of it as an even exchange: God’s wisdom for your foolishness.

Ask God to answer these questions:

How is God’s grace different from kindness or courtesy?
How do you know when God is leading you to do something?
What does it mean for you to pray God’s words His way?
What is a prophetic prayer?
How can God’s faith be in you for work?

Bonus Questions:

What is a vision of hope?
Why is God’s hope different from the kind of hope the world has?
How can you yield to God’s Spirit?
What does it mean for you to follow the direction God is giving you?

OH HOW I LONG FOR THE MANIFESTATION OF THE SONS OF GOD

OH HOW I LONG FOR THE MANIFESTATION OF THE SONS OF GOD

OH HOW I LONG FOR THE MANIFESTATION OF THE SONS OF GOD

Refrain:
Oh how I long for the manifestation.
Lord unveil Your glory within.
Zealous to see full-grown sons take their places;
to be free from all sickness and sin.

I pray for thy Kingdom to come Lord.
Baptize with fire, Lord and set me free.
All pride and all ambition I give my life to Thee.
All power and position nail it to the tree.
Daily to self I am dying;
All on the alter I submit to thee.
All knowledge and all learning and all my mastery.
All strongholds in my mind Lord and my theology.

Refrain

I bow in the light of Your glory,
Lord, by Your Spirit, take this flesh from me,
All hate and all my anger all evil memory.
All sickness and all sorrow all pent up misery.
Daily to self I am dying;
All on the alter I submit to thee.
My money and possessions and all my property.
Take all I have of value, I give it willingly.

Refrain

I walk in Your presence and power.
I bring my sacrifice, Lord, unto Thee.
Take all my independence and my autonomy.
Lord bond me to Your body as my identity.
Thy kingdom is precious so precious.
All of my treasures are worthless as can be.
All projects and all programs and all my ministry.
Restore what is of You Lord. Burn off what is of me.

God’s Presence, Leading, and Authority

God’s Presence, Leading, and Authority

God’s Presence, Leading, and Authority

(These principles are universal and apply to divine healing or anything God puts in your hand to overcome.)

1. The first step was to be aware of your identity in Christ and the awesome authority and responsibility you have as one who now has your identity in Christ.

2. Invite God’s Presence. Just ask the Spirit of God to come. You might start by praising God and thanking Him for all that He is doing for you. He inhabits the praises of His people. You have Christ in you all the time, but you also sense God’s Presence getting stronger at times. You sense the flow of His Anointing. His Presence is His Essence. It’s the same as His Glory. It’s Who He Is. He doesn’t always feel the same. Sometimes, you feel like you’re being moved by a warm flowing stream. Sometimes, it’s electric or peaceful or a sense of power. Those are just some examples, but you’ll know it’s Him. When you invite Him, He comes. For now, these moments of surging power may be temporary, but God wants you in His Presence every moment.

3. Look to God for leading in what to pray for, what is the hidden problem, how to pray, or is anything else needed to overcome in the situation. Faith comes by hearing God’s leading. Authority comes with faith. Healing, as with everything else, isn’t done independently of God. This isn’t a New Age Occult method. You are taking your authority and power that you have in Christ under the direction of the Holy Spirit. It’s impossible to know how God will lead in each situation, and God can pinpoint the root cause. The root cause may be physical. It may be an attack by a spirit. It may be an emotional wound. It might be something else that must be removed or changed first.

4. Ask God to show you any strongholds. Ask if demons are involved, and, if so, what would allow a demon to get a foothold: idols, bitterness, anger, negative emotions, unforgiveness, pride, offenses, trauma, etc. First deal with the issue, then the demon, then the healing.

5.The next step will be to allow God to work through you by the power of His grace in you.

Ask God to answer these questions:

What does it mean for you to invite God’s Presence?
What is a hidden problem or stronghold?
How does God show you that you have a problem or stronghold?
How can you stay in God’s Presence all the time?

How do you know what God wants you to pray for?

Identity and Authority

Identity and Authority

Identity and Authority

(These principles are universal and apply to divine healing or anything God puts in your hand to overcome.)

Yes. Christian Kids are healing the sick in Jesus Name.

Be certain of your identity in Christ since your recognition of who you are will have a direct effect on your authority. It will affect every aspect of your life. It will impact your ability to walk in righteousness, wisdom, knowledge, love, and power over sin, sickness, and death.

Scripture says you are spirit, mind, and body. If you have never thought about this, you may have to take the time needed to understand it.

You have a fleshly nature of your body, but that’s not who you are. Your flesh can’t do right and can’t be reformed. It may not seem like it may be possible to improve your fleshly nature, but Scripture says your flesh was crucified with Christ. It’s already dead.

Your ministry is who you are, but it has nothing to do with your flesh. Every member of Christ’s body has and is a ministry. Your ministry is Christ in you. Christ in you can’t sin.

Your spirit has been joined to the Holy Spirit.

The Bible uses the terms mind, soul, heart, and life as the same thing or very closely related in most cases. Your mind/soul is divided. You have a carnal mind that follows the sin nature of your body. If you have been born again, you also have the mind of Christ. Your will is your own. In every instance, you must decide which of these two minds you will follow. The one you feed is the one that will grow. The battle is for the mind.

Identify with Christ in your spirit and your mind. The carnal is not who you are. If you identify with Christ, you have the authority of Christ in all you do. In healing, you are allowing Christ in you (your true identity) to take authority over your body and correct some problem in the body.

Life and death are in the power of the tongue. (Proverbs 18:21) Be very careful what you say about yourself when you talk to yourself. Don’t allow your carnal mind to curse you. Let Christ in you speak to you about who you are in Christ and listen and affirm what He says.

The next step will be to stand in God’s Presence listening to His voice so He can lead you.

The final step will be to allow the power of God’s Grace to work healing through you. Let His glory (His Presence or Anointing) to flow through you.

Ask God to answer these questions:

What does it mean to have your identity in Christ?
How can you be spirit, mind, and body at the same time?
Why can’t your flesh do anything right?
How was your flesh crucified with Christ if you weren’t alive back then?
What does it mean that Christ in you can’t sin?

Bonus Questions:

How is your spirit joined to the Holy Spirit?
Why does the Bible use the words mind, soul, heart, and life for the same thing?
What does it mean for you to have the mind of Christ?
How do you decide which mind to follow, the carnal mind or the mind of Christ?
How does Christ in you take authority to heal your body?

OH PRAISE THE LORD

OH PRAISE THE LORD

OH PRAISE THE LORD

Some people lie and say that God is powerless.
They say that God does not control all things.
Our God has mighty power in His holiness.
He is the Lord of lords and King of kings.

chorus:
Oh praise the Lord. (echo)
Oh praise the Lord. (echo)
We will fight and win the war and every evil foe shall fall.
Oh praise the Lord. (echo)
Oh praise the Lord. (echo)
Oh listen saints and hear that trumpet call!

Some people lie and say there is no victory.
They say that God will not remove our sin.
Our God has mighty power; He will set us free.
He will complete the work He has begun.

chorus

Some people say that God cannot restore the Church.
They say that men’s ideas must hold sway.
Our God has mighty power; I have seen Him work.
He builds on His foundation that He laid.

chorus

Some people lie and say that God is powerless.
They say that God does not control all things.
Our God has mighty power in His holiness.
He is the Lord of lords and King of kings.

chorus

O Praise the Lord

STRONGHOLDS

STRONGHOLDS

STRONGHOLDS

(These principles are universal and apply to divine healing or anything God puts in your hand to overcome.)

You have tremendous authority in Christ. Strongholds are things that can stand in the way of you taking authority in Christ according to God’s will. Rather than following a system or check list, you must ask God what He wants to do. Various kinds of strongholds exist:

Bad ideas:

  • These may be doctrines, philosophies, worldviews, preconceived ideas, presuppositions, attitudes, etc.
  • Ask God to reveal any lies you believe. Reject them. Ask God to show you the truth. Receive it.

Failure to take Authority:

  • Not understanding your authority in Christ
  • Stand in God’s presence.
  • Let God assure you of your authority and responsibility.

Doubt:

  • Stand in the presence of God and listen to His voice.
  • Ask God to strengthen your faith.
  • Remember the times God has done things for you.
  • Get together with Christians who encourage you.
  • Failure to speak the words God has given you.
  • Failure to stand in God’s Presence and Glory.

Demonic Interference or Attacks:

  • Demons must be cast out.
  • The Scriptural pattern is to tell them to leave.
  • They must obey the Christ in you.
  • They have no power over you.
  • You may have to persist because demons are not obedient.

Past or Present Spiritual Injury can cause strongholds:

A few Examples:

  • unforgiveness
  • emotional trauma
  • bitterness
  • anger
  • hate
  • curses
  • agreements with negativity
  • dogmatism
  • rebellion against God or God’s authority
  • guilt
  • impulses
  • habit-thoughts
  • griefs
  • sorrows
  • negative emotion

What you can do about an event from the past that causes a strong negative reaction when you think of it.

  1. Identify the emotion, impulse, etc. you feel
  2. Reject it.
  3. Ask Jesus to take it from you.
  4. Ask Jesus to heal the wounds in your soul.
  5. Focus on the Spirit of Christ, and allow the Glory of God’s Presence to fill the place where the negative issue was living.
  6. Tell Jesus you receive His healing.
  7. Recall the event. You should sense the Glory of God’s Presence. If any negative emotions persist, repeat the steps above.

Ask God to answer these questions:

  1. Why do demons have to leave when you tell them to in Jesus’ name?
  2. How do you know if you have a stronghold in your life?
  3. What does it mean to take authority in Christ?
  4. How do you ask Jesus to heal wounds in your soul?
  5. What is the Glory of God’s Presence?

Bonus Questions:

  1. Why should you tell Jesus you receive His healing?
  2. What does it mean for you to stand in God’s Presence?
  3. What is a stronghold?
  4. How do you know what words God wants you to say?
  5. How can you stop feeling things like anger or bitterness?
