Why Presuppositions Don’t Lead to Understanding or Knowledge

Why don’t people want to know Jesus Christ? Why do they choose insane alternatives? The following statement in the meme is insane. Presuppositions consist of made-up stuff. It makes no sense to use the propositions of Scripture as made-up stuff. This isn’t that hard. You can know Jesus Christ. If you sincerely seek Him, you will find Him. It’s that simple. Then, if you follow Him, He will lead you. If you depend on your own understanding, you are lost. If you think you can rationalize truth, you are lost. If you turn to Jesus, He is the only Source of all truth, knowledge, wisdom, and righteousness. When you try to self-generate any of these, you become a self-righteous fool.

Always Learning but Never Coming to a Knowledge of the Truth

Godless thinkers can never come to a knowledge of the truth because the human mind can’t reason to truth. Truth must be revealed. Only God can reveal truth, and God has hidden all truth in Jesus Christ. There’s only one door to sanity, and His name is Jesus Christ.

This Is a BIG Problem for Atheists

This is a BIG problem for Atheists, Agnostics, and Skeptics. It means they can’t be rational, but they love to think of themselves as the rational ones. Rational thought is not an option for them.

Two-thousand years ago, Agrippa the Skeptic realized that the human mind has no way to reason to truth. What he discovered destroys science, philosophy, and all human thinking. Rational thought must be based on truth, but the human mind can’t reason to truth. Humans can observe imperfectly and incompletely, but they can’t reason about what they observe unless they can get truth from outside themselves. Since Agrippa didn’t know Jesus Christ, the only Source of all truth, Agrippa assumed no truth could be known. Of course, if no truth could be known, then Agrippa couldn’t know that no truth could be known. It’s a terrible problem.

Fortunately, God has provided a way we can know the truth. God’s way is called divine revelation. God speaks to every person. He reveals natural reality and spiritual reality. Romans one says He reveals everything that can be known about God and the Godhead, and He makes it plain through the things He has created. It takes a hard heart to look up at the night sky without sensing the divine presence. He speaks through the Bible and every means of divine revelation mentioned in the Bible. He speaks through prophecy, a word of wisdom, a word of knowledge, a still small inner voice, angels, conscience, intuition, and Christians who are speaking by the Holy Spirit. We’re learning to discern His voice from all others. As we mature in Christ, Christ is formed within us and our deceptive fleshly nature decreases. The second letter to the Corinthians tells us, in the third chapter, about the fleshly veil that keeps us from hearing God’s voice even when He speaks to us through Scripture. However, It also tells us that the fleshly veil is taken away when we turn to Christ. In those moments when we look away to Jesus, our vision clears. We see reality as it is. We know the truth. We can be rational. Right now, those glimpses are precious. They may be few and far between. We may get wrapped up in our doctrines as the Jewish people did. We may be so convinced of our presuppositions that they seem real to us. God’s plan is that we come into the presence of Christ and stay there seeing reality and flowing with His wisdom. If we listen to the voice of Jesus, He will be our teacher. Then, we will know the truth, and the truth will set us free from all sin.

This trilemma goes by several names. It’s Agrippa’s Trilemma. It’s also the Münchausen Trilemma. Schools don’t teach it or teach it in an irrational way because it defeats every godless form of thinking. Philosophers have tried to find ways around this trilemma over the centuries but have all failed. Every once in a while, someone comes up with a supposed “solution,” but there is no solution other than truth. And there is no Source of Truth other than Christ. Fortunately, anyone can know Jesus Christ.

ALL Truth is Hidden in Christ

Do you understand the impact of the fact that all truth is hidden in Christ? Without truth, there can be no rational thought. Without truth, no one could know anything. Without truth, people can have opinions, but they can’t know anything. They may use trial and error to find some things that seem to work. They can get Ph. D.s, but they can’t know anything. They can’t even know that they can’t know anything. Think about that.

However, Christ is the Light Who lights every person who comes into the world. His light shines on every person. The trouble is that some people hate the Light and turn from the Light. They walk into darkness. That’s why the world is so mixed up. They don’t know right from wrong. They don’t know reality from make-believe. It started in small ways. A lot of Christians thought it didn’t make any difference. They dreamt up ideas about the age of the earth. They keep changing that story. They call that story “a theory,” but it’s just a story that doesn’t work. Then, they came up with the stories of evolutionism. They called those stories “science.” Some Christians tried to fit those stories into the Bible. Some Christians started disregarding parts of the Bible because they believed these stories and believed a lie that said these stories were “science.” Those who don’t know Christ started to destroy the family. They started to move the responsibilities of families into government and Sunday school. They slowly destroyed all that is good. It’s taken hundreds of years. Consider the sexual revolution. It is a revolt against God, and it is revolting to anyone who still has a working conscience. Now, society goes into insanity. Consider the atrocities that have been forced on people recently in the name of science, medicine, and a fake morality that is actually immorality. And now, insanity is in style and sanity is considered wrong.

ALL Scientific “Knowledge” is Tentative

ALL of what is called “scientific knowledge” is tentative. In other words, it isn’t known in any real sense. It’s just the current opinion. ALL divine revelation is absolute. If you fail to thank God and give Him the glory for the knowledge He reveals, you lose the distinction between reality and make-believe.

Reality Is Real

Reality is real and excludes all unreality. Knowledge is knowledge because it’s certainty about reality and truth. However, if we can’t know truth with certainty, what poses as discussion merely attempts to manipulate others and gain control over them.

Speculation or Revelation

A theory is just a story to explain a set of scientific observations. It may seem to make sense but be wrong. God reveals the truth beyond what anyone can observe. Divine revelation is superior to the speculations of theories.

A World that Functions on Assumptions Is a House of Cards

Because of a failed “education” system, most people don’t understand logic. The more they study logic, the less they understand logic. The more they think they understand logic, the less they understand logic. Logic must be based on truth. Rational thought must be based on truth. The human mind cannot reason to truth. The human mind cannot self-generate truth. The human mind can assume, but assumptions, presuppositions, suppositions, made-up stuff, stories, and bare claims lead to irrational thinking. Jesus Christ is the Truth. All knowledge and wisdom are hidden in Christ. If you seek Christ, you will find Him. If you follow Christ, He will lead, teach, and correct you. If you get confused, He knows your heart. And if you sincerely want His righteousness, He will get you back on course with Him on the Path to Life and Truth.

Evolutionism is Irrational

Some school must be teaching that scientists try to disprove their beliefs, and they find true facts by finding beliefs they can’t disprove. That’s irrational thinking. Facts are observations that can be repeated. The best science can only be pragmatic. Science isn’t about truth. It’s about what seems to work at present. So much of what is falsely called “science: is just made-up stuff. It’s not even pragmatic. The misuse of science is dangerous and evil.

How Does Made-Up Stuff Prove a Theorem?

I heard this from a well-known Christian Ph. D. This person is far more intelligent than I am. He’s able to process thought rapidly. However, he’s become disconnected from Christ. He doesn’t think we can know Jesus Christ in any real way. He has become a functional deist or naturalist. Here’s what He said:

“An axiom is a presupposition, assumed true, from which theorems are deduced. It makes sense to use the propositions of Scripture as axioms.”

The word “axiom” means something that has no proof. It’s simply a bare claim. It’s made-up stuff, but you pretend it’s true.

Does it make sense to use the propositions of Scripture as made-up stuff?

I know the propositions of Scripture are true because the Holy Spirit tells me they are true. That’s a lot better than pretending they are true. If I were an Atheist, I would find this Ph. D. scientist’s claims silly. An Atheist may reject the fact that the Holy Spirit speaks to me. An Atheist may refuse to seek Christ and find Him. However, the Atheist will then be guilty of refusing to look at the evidence.

With the thinking of this Christian Ph. D., the Atheist is simply refusing to pretend what the Ph. D. is pretending. That’s all axioms are is a little make-believe. Someone says, “I will pretend this and call it an axiom.” The Atheist has axioms too. The Atheist’s axioms are that God doesn’t exist, God doesn’t do anything, and God has never done anything. I don’t accept axioms. I go to Jesus for knowledge, wisdom, and truth since those can only be found in Christ. Jesus is real and knowable. All who seek Him find Him. In Him is hidden all knowledge and wisdom. He leads, teaches, and corrects all who follow Him.

When intelligent Christians think their fallen minds can make up things, it’s no wonder the church is divided.
