Many “expert theologians” advise us that we cannot know Jesus Christ in any real way. Have you found Jesus to be real and knowable? Does His Spirit continue to speak to you through Scripture, creation, prophecy, the testimony of your brothers and sisters, your conscience and intuition, and other means? The fallen human mind makes problems complex, but God makes things simple. When that which is complete comes, that which is in part is done away. The fallen human mind can never understand Scripture. One of the most destructive idols is the intellect. The fallen mind loves to worship itself while pretending to glorify God. The ultimate authority must always be God, not our faulty and partial understanding of Scripture. While divine revelation will never conflict with Scripture, it will often conflict with human interpretations of Scripture. Dogmatism claims much more knowledge that it has. We must hold tightly to Christ while holding doctrine loosely. We must be willing to allow God to correct us.
