God has spoken to me quite a bit about this reprobate mind in specific ways. The reprobate mind is simply the fallen human mind without the flowing river of divine revelation. You don’t want to be turned over to your own mind. Without divine revelation, the reprobate mind has no way to reason to truth. Without truth, all reasoning is insanity. It’s making up stuff and calling the made-up stuff “true.” It was very humbling when God was talking to me about the uselessness of my mind.
Did you know that scientists have discovered that a light flashes when a new baby is conceived? It’s amazing that a light flashes when a new baby is conceived, and we should glorify God about it. Some have hinted that this may be the Light that lights every person who comes into the world. I think it’s more than that.
We know the identity of the true Light Who lights every person who comes into the world. His name is Jesus Christ. We know from Romans 1 that God gives revelation to every person. He even goes so far as to reveal everything that can be known about God and the Godhead. That’s a lot. That’s why we are without excuse if we refuse to acknowledge that all wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and truth come from God. That’s why we are without excuse if we claim that we have self-generated the wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and truth that came from God. That’s why God says, “Well, if you want the darkness of your own reprobate mind, here you go. I’ll turn you over to it. Justice.
