What does it mean to overcome in this way? What does God mean? What does God want you to do, and how do you have a part in it?

Some people think you overcome by presenting amazing sermons. Others believe you overcome by winning arguments. Others think you overcome through politics or military force. Still others believe you overcome by performing miracles or through displays of spiritual power. Overcoming may affect any of those. However, none of those are what God means by overcoming.

The one who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of My God, and he will never again leave it. Upon him I will write the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God (the new Jerusalem that comes down out of heaven from My God), and My new name.~ Revelation 3:12

91 FACTS MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT RATIONAL THOUGHT:
1. The whole world honors an insane way of thinking without absolute truth, and that’s why the world is so crazy.
2. Rational thought requires a starting point of truth. It must be based on truth. Truth is absolute by definition.
3. Without divine revelation, it’s impossible to have a true premise. Without a true premise, it’s impossible to be rational.
4. Without truth, no rational thought can exist.
5. No truth exists outside Christ.
6. The simplicity in Christ is this: Christ is real and Christ reveals truth to any open mind. He’s alive and knowable.
7. You can pray, “Lord, be the foundation of my every thought. Let me listen to Your voice every moment.”

The fleshly nature would like to convert God’s pattern and orders into a set of rules or laws, but rules and laws can’t contain God’s pattern.

As members of Christ’s body, each of us is matchless. The Christ in us is perfect and cannot be mixed with the flesh. The flesh is religious and is into self-improvement. You can’t reform the fleshly nature. The fleshy nature must die. The fleshly nature would like to convert God’s pattern and orders into a set of rules or laws, but rules and laws can’t contain God’s pattern. God established a pattern and orders for Christ’s body, and we can read about those in Scripture. God’s pattern is spiritual and contains everything needed for God to form this spiritual body.

As part of God’s pattern, God delegates authority in specific ways to fathers, mothers, local elders, local deacons, traveling elders, traveling deacons, and every member in His body. Once He has delegated His authority, He operates His power through the person set into authority in unity and love according to the pattern found in the Bible. Right now, Christ’s body is incomplete, so only spiritual eyes can see it. Satan will try to get you working for God when grace isn’t working through you to do the works. Satan will try to disguise his voice as God’s voice to deceive you. Then, if he can deceive you, he’ll tell you God doesn’t speak or you can’t know God’s voice from other voices. He’ll try to get your fleshly mind to come up with ideas for serving God rather than waiting for God to direct you. He’ll try to get you to send yourself to do what God never asked you to do. He’ll try to get you to depend on your intellect and abilities rather than depending on God. He’ll bring false teachers, leaders, and pastors to give you guidance that didn’t come from God. Satan will use all these tricks plus the other tricks mentioned in this chapter.

Our walk isn’t about proving how spiritual and invincible we are, but it’s about allowing the Holy Spirit to fully form Christ in us.

This is the metamorphosis. God is transforming His people into the image of Christ beginning with our spirits, then our minds or souls, and finally our bodies. He’s building a holy temple individually in each one who is willing to yield to His Spirit. However, God is also molding us into Christ the body as one integrated temple. It’s a magnificent temple of the Lord, and God is building it. God delegates His authority to every person who believes from the moment each one is born again. Not only that, but God wants each of us to employ the full scope of His authority without extending ourselves beyond the authority He has given us. He wants us to overcome the demonic powers, our fleshly natures, and the influence of the culture. God doesn’t want us to walk in fear as if we must be fully mature before we can do that which brings us to maturity. We will make mistakes. We will stumble, but we must trust God that He will gently correct any errors and pick us up if we fall. The human mind can’t reason to truth. That’s the basis of relativism.

The human mind can’t reason to truth. That’s the basis of relativism, which says nothing can be known for certain and we might be wrong about everything. However, we can’t know that relativism is true either. And it isn’t. All truth is hidden in Christ Jesus. You can know Him. If you sincerely seek Him with persistence, you will find Him. If you follow Him and yield to His Spirit, He will lead, teach, and correct you.

91 FACTS MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT RATIONAL THOUGHT:
1. The whole world honors an insane way of thinking without absolute truth, and that’s why the world is so crazy.
2. Rational thought requires a starting point of truth. It must be based on truth. Truth is absolute by definition.
3. Without divine revelation, it’s impossible to have a true premise. Without a true premise, it’s impossible to be rational.
4. Without truth, no rational thought can exist.
5. No truth exists outside Christ.
6. The simplicity in Christ is this: Christ is real and Christ reveals truth to any open mind. He’s alive and knowable.
7. You can pray, “Lord, be the foundation of my every thought. Let me listen to Your voice every moment.”
8. Jesus Christ speaks through the Bible and every means of divine revelation mentioned in the Bible.
9. The Bible is saturated with the Spirit of Christ, so you can’t avoid hearing His voice if you read the Bible.
10. Even though the Spirit of Christ saturates the Bible so no one can avoid hearing His voice when reading the Bible, ungodly thinkers avoid acknowledging Christ when He speaks to them.
11. God doesn’t rewrite the Bible because ungodly thinkers rebel against His righteousness.

13. Wherever truth is denied, Christ is denied. Wherever Christ is denied, truth is denied.

48. God reveals Himself to ungodly thinkers. They refuse to listen to Him.
49. When ungodly thinkers refuse to listen to Christ, they’re turning toward darkness. They lose their ability to sense God. They can’t hear Him anymore. They can’t feel His presence. They can’t see the Kingdom of Heaven. They become increasingly callous.
50. Ungodly thinkers make up stories to assert that Christ doesn’t reveal reality to those who follow Him.
51. If you assume what you’re trying to prove, you prove nothing.
52. How could an ungodly thinker prove a premise? They would need a second premise to prove the first, but they can’t prove the second premise either. How can an ungodly thinker prove a premise? They can’t.

77. Evolutionism is based in storytelling and denialism. Evolutionism is a religious dogma that can’t be falsified. All conclusions of age-of-the-earth “science” depend on assumptions and storytelling.
78. Scientists and theologians generally reason emotionally and irrationally.
79. Scientists and theologians often reason based on made-up stuff such as axioms or assumptions. That’s irrational.
