LET GOD CONSTANTLY CORRECT YOU

LET GOD CONSTANTLY CORRECT YOU

LET GOD CONSTANTLY CORRECT YOU

The carnal human mind is corrupted and will try to edit what God gives you or may even put in comments that didn’t come from God. That’s one of the reasons it’s a great idea not to become dogmatic about anything. Let God constantly guide you and correct and complete your understanding of the Bible and everything else.

“For when I brought your fathers out of the land of Egypt, I did not merely command them about burnt offerings and sacrifices, but this is what I commanded them: Obey Me, and I will be your God, and you will be My people. You must walk in all the ways I have commanded you, so that it may go well with you. Yet they did not listen or incline their ear, but they followed the stubborn inclinations of their own evil hearts. They went backward and not forward.” Jeremiah 7:22-24

The original language of the Bible says you need to be diligent and careful in your seeking. In other words, you must ask your questions to Him and only Him, and you must believe He will answer you. It’s not hard. It’s simple. Just direct your mind toward God and don’t get distracted by comments from your carnal mind. Ask God to protect you from other voices, and tell Him you want to hear His voice and His voice alone. Jesus said that your heavenly Father won’t give you the wrong thing, but He is able to give you His Holy Spirit if you ask for it.

Ask God to answer these questions.

Rather than trusting the fallen human mind to try to answer important questions, ask God.

What is your carnal mind?
What can you do to make sure your carnal mind doesn’t deceive you?
Why should you avoid being dogmatic about things?
Why did the people in Jeremiah’s time go backward instead of forward?
How can you make sure you only hear God’s voice?

Bonus questions:

What does it look like if you’re diligent and careful in seeking God?
What does it mean for you to receive the Holy Spirit?
What’s the difference between receiving the Holy Spirit, being filled with the Holy Spirit, and being baptized with the Holy Spirit?

LORD, LET YOUR SWEET WISDOM NOW FLOW OUT FROM ME

LORD, LET YOUR SWEET WISDOM NOW FLOW OUT FROM ME

LORD, LET YOUR SWEET WISDOM NOW FLOW OUT FROM ME

Lord, let your sweet wisdom now flow out from me,
Sweet wisdom abundantly flowing from Thee.
Take every obstacle that all may see,
Not me but Thee,
In this ministry,
Sweet wisdom flowing from Thee.

Lord, let your sweet love now flow out from me,
Sweet love now abundantly flowing from Thee.
Take every obstacle that all may see,
Not me but Thee,
In this ministry,
Sweet love just flowing from Thee.

Lord, let your sweet hope now flow out from me,
Sweet hope now abundantly flowing from Thee.
Take every obstacle that all may see,
Not me but Thee,
In this ministry,
Sweet hope just flowing from Thee.

Lord, let your sweet faith now flow out from me,

Trust the Lord–not your understanding

Trust the Lord--not your understanding

Trust the Lord–not your understanding

God says, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me (John 10:27).” When God speaks to you, He may use any of your physical or spiritual senses of hearing, seeing, tasting, smelling, or feeling. He can show you a vision. Sometimes, you just know something, but you don’t know how you know except you know the knowledge came from God. And yet, even when you know, you know in part. You need that relationship with Christ where you hear His voice, receive His faith, and are empowered for His righteousness by His grace. Then, you won’t fulfill the lusts of the flesh.

”Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God (John 8:47).”

You are of God if you receive Him as your Lord to rule over you. “Whoever goes to God must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who seek Him (Hebrews 11:6).” All true knowledge and wisdom are from God.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

The earlier you do this, the easier it is for you. You can try to be righteous on your own, but you will fail. Only by the power of the Spirit can you truly do God’s will. If you ask God for an answer and ask Him to protect you from other voices, you can trust that He will speak to you by His Spirit.

“And which father among you, if the son will ask for a fish, and instead of a fish, will give to him a serpent? Or also if he will ask for an egg, will he give to him a scorpion? Therefore if you, being evil, know to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the Father who is in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those asking Him!” Luke 11:11-13

“Whoever is on the side of truth listens to Me” John 18:37

Ask God to answer these questions:

  • What does hearing God’s voice do to you?
  • Name some of the ways God has spoken to you?
  • What does it mean for you to receive faith from God?
  • What does John 8:47 mean when it says you hear God’s words if you are of God?
  • “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6). What does this teach you about trusting God?

Bonus questions:

  • Why is it impossible to be righteous on your own?
  • How can you ask God to protect you from other voices that aren’t from God?
  • Since God knows how to give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him, what will happen to you if you ask God for the Holy Spirit?
  • If you’re on the side of truth and you love truth, how will you listen when Jesus leads you?

LORD, LET ME WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH

LORD, LET ME WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH

LORD, LET ME WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH

How we desire to be told that we are right.
How we compare ourselves to others.
We must walk by faith; we cannot walk by sight.
Lord, teach us to edify our brothers.

Lord let me worship in Spirit and in truth.
I seek now the genuine and real.
Lord, as the eagle, let me renew my youth.
Let me wait on Your power and Your zeal.

Take away the plastic and the tinsel, Lord,
The entertainments and the programs we’ve embraced.
Man works in the leaven so religiously
While precepts set by God have been erased.

Take away the entertainments and all false ministries.
Take away all the programs far from me.
Let the fire of Your Spirit burn all evil and debris.
Take a coal from Your alter; touch my lips and set me free.

False teachers and False prophets and elected boards
Your precepts and Your orders they disdain
They teach complacency and say, “there is no more.”
While activities and programs entertain.

Take away the one-man ministry.
Restore elders to You’re people everywhere.
Man lifts himself up so religiously.
Shake out these man-made orders. Hear my prayer.

Take away the fleshly music, with all those soulful beats.
Take the money making showmen far from me.
Let the fire of Your Kingdom cleanse Your Church and set us free.
As those led by the Spirit, give us power and victory.

Lord let me worship in Spirit and in truth.
I seek now the genuine and real.
Lord, as the eagle, let me renew my youth.
Let me wait on Your power and Your zeal.

The carnal mind would rather set up rules

The carnal mind would rather set up rules

The carnal mind would rather set up rules

The carnal mind would rather set up rules, concepts, laws, and principles than stand in the presence of God being led by His Spirit. It would rather partake of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil than to have that relationship with God. And yet, we need to know the difference between good and evil. Why did God command Adam and Eve not to eat of that tree? We are not under the Law but under grace. What’s so bad about the Law? Knowledge of good and evil was a substitute for knowing God and being led by Him. The Law also became a substitute and a way to try to be righteous disconnected from God. Of course, righteousness apart from a personal relationship with God is impossible.

The fleshly nature says, “Who needs God since we have the Law?” Grace includes the free gift of righteousness. Sin is failure to hear God’s voice and failure to follow His leading by His power and the free gift of righteousness. True righteousness always begins with God’s leading and us listening and yielding ourselves to His Spirit to the point that He does His works and says His words through us.

Beyond knowing about Jesus Christ, we need to know Him personally. He will never lead us contrary to true righteousness. He will never lead us in a way that contradicts Scripture. We need that personal relationship. That means we need to hear directly from the Spirit of Christ. God speaks to everyone. We know that by experience, and the Bible tells us the same thing. Some people listen to Him. Some of those who listen yield to His Spirit of love, joy, and peace to the point the God can do His works through them. Here’s some Scripture to back this up:

“Because a knowledge of God is revealed to them, for God has revealed it to them. For the secrets of God from the foundation of the world are appearing to His creatures through intelligence, even His power and His eternal Godhead, that they will be without a defense, Because they knew God, and they did not glorify Him as God, nor did they give Him thanks, so that they became destitute in their reasoning and became dull in their heart without understanding. And when they thought in themselves that they were wise, they became insane. Romans 1:19-22

“The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, yet the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own people did not receive Him. But to all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God” John 1:9-12

“Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Father” Matthew 4:4

Ask God to answer these questions:

  • How do you hear from the Spirit of Christ?
  • Why is it important for you to go beyond just knowing about Jesus?
  • What does it mean when you say God speaks to everyone?
  • What does it mean for you to listen to God?
  • How can you let God do His works through you?

Bonus questions:

  • Romans 1:19-22 says, “knowledge of God is revealed to them, for God has revealed it to them.” It means the knowledge of God is revealed to those who say they don’t believe in God, so it says those people have no excuse. What does that tell you about those who say they believe God doesn’t exist?
  • John 1:9-12 says some people refused to receive Jesus. How much does that affect you when you do receive Jesus?
  • What does it mean for you to live by every word that comes from God?

Lord, What Would You Have Me Do?

What is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ?

What is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ?

What is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ?

When Christians refer to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, they generally mean a close, intimate connection with Him that goes beyond just knowing about Him intellectually or following religious rituals. It’s about interacting with Jesus as a living person who is involved in their daily life. God is interested in every aspect of our lives, every activity, and every moment of every day. He speaks thorough every method of divine revelation and leading mentioned in Scripture, but is not limited. When God speaks, faith comes. “Faith comes by hearing God’s word, His rhema, what God is saying (Romans 10:17). Jesus Christ is that Word (John 1). He authors faith in us and then finishes the work of God’s faith (Hebrews 12:2).

In a relationship, conversations take place. Questions get asked and answered. Religion has often put God in a box that claims He can’t communicate. Or, if He communicates at all, He does so exclusively through the Bible. But the Bible doesn’t say that. And we don’t really believe that way. We sing song lyrics like “He walks with me and He talks with me,” “Savior, like a shepherd lead us,” “He leadeth me, O blessed thought,” “I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,” or “Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling.”

God speaks to every person. Jesus is real and knowable. You can know Him. To please God, you must believe that He exists and that He will reward your efforts if you seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). Don’t pay attention to a closed mind that says you won’t hear. Listening to voices that are closed to truly knowing God will keep you from hearing God.

To start, you will be asking God some questions. Not only will you ask questions, but God will answer those questions. We’ll use two main questions in this devotional:

“What lies do I believe about ____?”

“What is the truth about _____?”

Those aren’t the only good questions, but they’re the ones we will use. You can ask any question. Here are some other questions, but don’t limit yourself:

“What do I need to know about ____?”

“What questions should I ask You?

Ask God to answer these questions.

Rather than trusting the fallen human mind to try to answer important questions, ask God. He knows everything and has all wisdom. The fallen human mind will lead you wrong.

  • What does it mean to have a personal relationship with Jesus?
  • How does God speak to you?
  • What does it mean that “faith comes by hearing God’s word”?
  • Why do we say Jesus is the Word?
  • Can I talk to God like I talk to a friend?

Bonus questions:

  • Does God answer all our questions?
  • What are some good questions I can ask God?
  • Why is it important to believe that God exists?
  • Some people claim God only speaks through the Bible. The Bible doesn’t say that. This is called a self-refuting statement since their claim argues against itself. And yet, these people are getting their claim from somewhere. Where do these people get their claim? (By the way, God does speak through the Bible and every means of divine revelation mentioned in the Bible. God never conflicts with Himself, so no revelation will ever conflict with the Bible.)

Scripture is clear on healing.

Scripture is clear on healing.

Scripture is clear on healing.

Healing

Scripture is clear on healing.

“For I am the LORD that healeth thee.” (Exodus 15:26)

“Bless the LORD, O my soul… who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases.” (Psalm 103:2-3)

“And Jesus went about all Galilee… healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.” (Matthew 4:23)

“With his stripes we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5)

“Then he called his twelve disciples… and he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.” (Luke 9:1-2)

“Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.” (Mark 5:34)

“Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him… and the prayer of faith shall save the sick.” (James 5:14-15) This is a special case and applies to the order of elders. The order of elders is scarcely found in the church, but God will restore it.

Further study on elders if you are interested (Acts 14:23, Titus 1:5, 1 Timothy 3:1–7, Titus 1:6–9, Acts 20:17, 28, 1 Peter 5:1–2)

“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.” (James 5:16)

“To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit.” (1 Corinthians 12:9)

“They shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” (Mark 16:17-18)

2 Corinthians 12:7-9 Paul was not healed of his “thorn in the flesh,” and some theologians say the thorn in the flesh was a physical infirmity. The Bible doesn’t say that. The way Paul writes, the thorn could well have been the painful memories of the way he tortured and killed Christians and the accusations of demons against him.

Some theologians say God no longer heals and that these Scriptures don’t apply anymore. On the other hand, many Christians have been blessed with true healing ministries. Many of those who are currently blessed are trying to teach other Christians how God wants them to walk in God’s healing Anointing. Seek the Lord and see whether He wants you to be effective when you pray for the sick or suffering.

  • Does God heal all diseases?
  • How did Jesus heal people?
  • Why does the Bible say, “With His stripes we are healed”?
  • What did Jesus send His disciples to do?

“These signs will accompany those who believe: In My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not harm them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will be made well.” (Luke 24:17-18)

Many Christians are seeking God and asking why we aren’t seeing this level of authority and power in the church. Some say this isn’t for us today, but this is twisting Scripture.

“And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” (John 14:13)

There was a man who was working on an ambulance. He prayed for the patients on the ambulance for about nine months and not one person was healed. Then he discovered a secret. It seems every breakthrough with God starts with hearing God’s voice, and that’s what happened for this praying medic.

If we pray in Jesus’ name, we are signing His name to our prayer. If He isn’t praying the prayer through us, we are praying without authority. We have no authority. That’s why hearing God’s voice is the first step in prayer. He will tell us how to pray and what to do. Once He speaks, faith comes. Faith gives us authority for whatever God said. And faith gives us access to God’s grace. God’s grace is His power to do the work. Part of powerful prayer is releasing this power. Authoritative, powerful prayer follows the “by-grace-through-faith” pattern.

What is the “by-grace-through-faith” pattern? It is the simplicity that is in Christ Jesus. The Father speaks to us. We listen to His voice, and faith comes for whatever the Father said. We receive that faith and that gives us access to God’s grace. God’s grace does whatever the Father said. It’s that simple.

Much has been written about prayer from people who have broken through using prayer. God wants you to pray, and He wants you to pray effectively. He wants you to receive what you pray for. That’s never easy for anyone. Never give up.

Ask God to answer these questions.
• What does it mean that Christians are walking far below their inheritance?
• While some Christians are seeing many miracles, others are not. Why don’t some Christians see miracles?
• Does picking up snakes or drinking poison mean you should do dangerous things?
• How do you learn to know when God is really speaking to you when you pray?
• Why do you have to hear God’s voice to pray with authority?

Bonus questions:
• Can’t you just pray for anything?
• How do you pray “in Jesus’ name”?
• Why didn’t the man working on the ambulance see anyone healed at first?
• What does faith have to do with prayer and God’s grace?
• How can you “release God’s power” in your prayer?
• If prayer is so important, why is it sometimes hard to keep praying and not give up?

HOW TO TRULY REPENT

HOW TO TRULY REPENT

HOW TO TRULY REPENT

Merriam Webster says repent means “to turn from sin and dedicate oneself to the amendment of one’s life; to feel regret or contrition; to change one’s mind,” Those three definitions are good and you don’t choose one or the other. They go together.

The problem lies in doing those three. Your carnal (sarx), religious mind is gung ho. It volunteers to manage the project. It will help you turn from sin and amend your life. It will go into mourning over past sins and even hold you in a state of constant condemnation if you like. Alternately, it can flippantly say, “I’m sorry,” while it continues to sin. It can employ New Age or positive mental attitude techniques to change your mind. None of that creates the transformation God has planned for you.

The Greek word for “repent” is μετανοέω (metanoeō), which is derived from two parts: meta (meaning “after” or “beyond”) and noeō (meaning “to think” or “to perceive”). Together, it essentially means “to change one’s mind” or “to have a new mind.”

Since you know something about how God is transforming you, repenting is a transformation from your carnal mind to a new mind, the Mind that is Christ in you. The old carnal mind can’t simply have a new way of looking at things or a new attitude. It must die away and be replaced by a brand new Mind, Christ in you. Christ is in your spirit. Now, the battle is for your mind. God is redeeming your mind now with your cooperation. God will fully redeem your body later.

How? The way is simple. Stop listening to your carnal mind that follows your flesh, demonic entities, and the fleshly and demonic ideas of the culture. Stand in God’s Presence. Let His glory, His essence, His being overwhelm you. Listen to His voice so faith comes. And yield to the power of His grace so His grace does His works and says His words through you. That’s as simple as it gets. That’s how you repent. It will change how you think and how you act in every aspect of life. You will begin to think, speak, and act with the authority and power of the living God.

Ask God to answer these questions.
What does “repent” mean?
Why can’t your mind just decide to stop sinning on its own?
What is a carnal mind?
What does it mean for your old mind to die?
How can Christ be in you?

Bonus Questions

What does it mean to stand in God’s Presence?

Since grace is God’s power to do His will, how can you move by the power of His grace?
How does God change the way you act by changing what you are?
