IT’S NORMAL FOR YOU TO WANT TO KNOW JESUS CHRIST BETTER

IT’S NORMAL FOR YOU TO WANT TO KNOW JESUS CHRIST BETTER

IT’S NORMAL FOR YOU TO WANT TO KNOW JESUS CHRIST BETTER

“Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come.” (Jeremiah 33:3)

Once you have been born again, it’s normal for you to want to know Jesus Christ better. It’s normal for you to be drawn to the supernatural nature of Christ. It’s abnormal for you to be satisfied with the natural when God has promised supernatural blessings, health, and life. You want your relationship with Christ to be meaningful. You want more than just a feeling of His presence. You want His leading. You want more than just using God as a vending machine where you make your requests and hope to get what you want. You want to know Him and His love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, inner strength, knowledge, wisdom, and understanding.

“If they had stood before me and listened to me, they would have spoken my words, and they would have turned my people from their evil ways and deeds” (Jeremiah 23:22).

If you want to hear God’s voice and speak God’s words, stand before Him and listen to Him. It’s not difficult to understand.

“Now without faith it is impossible to please God, since the one who draws near to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards (pays back) those who seek him” (Hebrews 11:6.

“If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me” (Jeremiah 29:13).

What makes it hard to hear God’s voice? Listening to the wrong voice.

You have the choice. Whose voice will you listen to? Will you listen to your carnal mind and all the presuppositions  planted by demon forces, or will you listen to God. God tells you He exists. God tells you He will speak to you. He says these things through the Bible and every means of divine revelation mentioned in the Bible. You can read about how He spoke to Samuel, Moses, Paul, Peter, and others. He can speak to you that way. Your carnal mind is a skeptic that was programmed by demon forces. It doubts. Doubting God will cause you to have trouble hearing God. Turn your attention to Jesus. He will assure you that God is real. He tells you that God will answer when you ask Him a question. He’ll be there when you want to stand in His presence listening for His voice.

Follow the by grace through faith way.

Ask God to answer these questions.

  • What does it mean to know Jesus better?
  • What are some supernatural things you can learn from Jesus, like love and joy?
  • How can you hear God’s voice?
  • What makes it hard to hear God’s voice?
  • What does it mean to listen to the wrong voice?

LET’S ALL PRAISE THE LORD

For He hath done wondrous things for us,

Rejoice in the Lord all ye righteous.
Rejoice in the Lord and bless His Name!
For He alone is worthy; Oh, praise ye the Lord.

If you are full of God’s Spirit

If you are full of God’s Spirit

If you are full of God’s Spirit

If you are full of God’s Spirit, God will open the door to talk about Jesus. Always let God’s glory flow through you and flow out from you. His glory is full of love and peace. As the conversation goes, you may find that you’re talking to a person who needs Jesus. Always be respectful and non-coercive. Don’t preach at people, but let the conversation flow and look for God to open a door to talk about Jesus. In general, you will probably talk about these subjects:

The Problem of Sin:

  • Would you consider yourself to be a good person?
  • Do you think you’ve kept the 10 Commandments?
  • If God were to judge you by the 10 Commandments, would you be guilty or innocent?
  • Would you go to heaven of hell?

Concern:

  • If they admit they are bound for hell, ask: “Does this concern you?”

Cross and Resurrection:

  • Share how Jesus died on the cross to pay the debt of our sins and rose again to give us eternal life. He is the only way. (1 Corinthians 15:3b-4, John 14:6)

He Pays the Debt IF They Do the Following:

  • admit their sin
  • repent of their sins
  • believe and receive Christ as their Savior from sin and the sinful nature

(Acts 3:19, Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 10:9)

What’s Next?

  • They are now new babies in Christ.
  • They need to grow up in Christ.
  • Explain how to spend time listening to God and standing in His presence.
  • This includes prayer and developing a personal relationship with God.
  • Talk to them about reading the Bible daily, coming to church, and telling others about Christ.

  • Talk to them about reading the Bible daily, coming to church, and telling others about Christ.

Christ in you is full of life.

Christ in you is full of life.

Christ in you is full of life.

If you have received Jesus as your Savior and Lord, it’s normal for you to want others to have the same joy you now experience. You’re fallen fleshly nature may be fearful while Christ in you is full of life. How do you overcome fear and tell other people about Jesus? God isn’t interested in programs and formulas other than standing in His Presence, enjoying His glory, being thankful to Him, listening to His voice, and yielding to His Spirit. So in telling others about Jesus, these are the most important things to do. Someone can give you some tips, but never let the tips become a rigid format. Always be respectful and kind. Never be judgmental, accusing, or pushy. Ask questions and listen. Smile, nod, and look them in the eyes.

That being said, here is one of the methods that is widely taught as a way to talk to people about Jesus.

The Way of the Master (WDJD):

Friendly Conversation
Start with light, non-threatening topics. Ask about their life, family, or interests.
A friendly tone helps open the door for deeper discussions.

Transition to Spiritual Topics:
“Did you get one of these?” (hand them a gospel tract)
“Do you have a Christian background?”
“What do you think happens after we die?”

Key Question 1:
“Would you consider yourself to be a good person?

Key Question 2:
“Do you think you’ve kept the Ten Commandments?”
If they say they’re a good person, ask questions based on the Ten Commandments. For example:
“Have you ever told a lie?”
“Have you ever stolen anything, no matter how small?”
“Have you ever used God’s name in vain?”
“Have you ever looked at someone with lust? (Jesus said in Matthew 5:28 that this is the same as committing adultery in your heart.)”
Be kind but positive and confident as you explain that these actions are sins according to God’s law.

You may find this person is a Christian who understands salvation. If so, enjoy a conversation where you can build each other up in your faith.

Key Question 3 – Judgment:
“If God were to judge you by the 10 Commandments, do you think you would be innocent or guilty?”

Key Question 4 – Destiny:
“Since God is totally holy and must be just, do you think you would go to heaven or to hell?”

Present the Solution: The Gospel
“Even though we’ve all sinned, God loves us and sent His Son, Jesus, to pay the penalty for our sins.”
“Jesus lived a sinless life, died on the cross in our place, and rose again on the third day.”
“If you repent of your sins and trust in Jesus as your Savior, God will forgive you and give you eternal life.”

Call for a Response
“Does this make sense to you?”
“Do you believe what I’m saying?”
“Would you like to repent and trust in Jesus today?”

If they seem hesitant, encourage them to think about it and keep seeking the truth.

Provide Encouragement and Resources
Offer a Bible or a gospel tract if they’re interested.
Invite them to church or recommend resources for further study.
Encourage them to pray and seek God sincerely.
Pray for Them

Whether they respond positively or not, commit to praying for them after your conversation.
Trust God to work in their heart, even if you don’t see immediate results.
Key Points to Remember

Let Jesus lead you: Stay aware of God’s presences. Christ lives in you. Let Him speak through you.
Love and humility: Approach every person with kindness and genuine care for their soul.
Listen actively: Engage with their thoughts and questions without being confrontational.
Use Scripture: Anchor your conversation in the Bible (e.g., Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, John 3:16, Ephesians 2:8-9).
Rely on the Holy Spirit: Trust God to guide your words and open their heart to the truth.

This method focuses on helping people see their need for a Savior by understanding their sin through God’s law, then pointing them to the hope of salvation through Jesus Christ. You may find that the conversation goes in a totally different way. If that’s the case, follow the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Listen to God’s Voice.

Listen to God's Voice.

Listen to God’s Voice.

Jesus assures us that Christians hear His voice. In John 10:27, Jesus said, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” The Greek word ἀκούω is translated as “listen” or “hear.” As this word is used in Scripture it implies grasping the meaning and responding in obedience. This is one of many passages in Scripture that make this point.

The first chapter of Romans tells us that everyone hears God’s voice. Some people may say they don’t hear God’s voice. You know you have a conscience. Since you have a conscience, you hear God’s voice. You can sear your conscience by doing what your conscience tells you not to do or not doing what your conscience tells you to do. If you fail to recognize that any wisdom or knowledge you have comes from God, you will take credit for that wisdom and knowledge. The human mind has no capacity to create wisdom or knowledge. All wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Christ. If you take credit for the true wisdom and knowledge that come from Christ, you will gradually lose the ability to discern between truth from God, lies from demons, or nonsense from your fallen carnal mind.

It’s hard to hear God when you listen to many voices. Ask God if some voices in your life are harming your ability to hear Him. He may tell you to eliminate certain music, TV shows, friends, or who knows what else.

You may find it helpful to set time aside to listen to God’s voice. That quiet time before the Lord will not be wasted. This isn’t a time to blank your mind. You focus on Christ. You might start by praising Him or singing some worship songs. Make a time to ask God questions. Invite God’s presence and allow His Spirit to flow through you. Then ask God what He wants to talk about. He may just want to be with you. You can take this time by taking a walk, taking a ride, or just sitting in a chair. How can you have a meaningful relationship with God if you don’t devote the time needed to develop the relationship?

LET YOUR LOVE BE IN ME

LET YOUR LOVE BE IN ME

LET YOUR LOVE BE IN ME

Born at first into a nation,
Which was bound in captivity.
Born again by the blood of Jesus,
In a nation which is totally free.

O Lord let Your love be in me.
Let me die to myself and live unto Thee.
Let Your fullness be unveiled in me.
Flow River Flow.
Flow Spirit Flow.
‘Til all of my self is purged away,
And I only manifest Thee.

Born again, as little babies
To grow up to be full-grown sons.
God’s glory will fill all this temple,
When He finishes what He’s begun.

CHORUS

You set me by your precept,
In Your Body in my place,
When hands were laid upon me,
With prophecy, power and grace.

CHORUS .

Oh the glory of your coming,
From within and to be revealed,
To all of Your plan surrendered,
As unto Your Spirit I yield.

CHORUS

Even now You shine out from us,
Through Your gifts and ministry,
And we move into all your precepts,
Walking on ’til we’re totally free.

Three Authorities

Three Authorities

Three Authorities

We see three choices: demonic influence, the human mind, and divine revelation. The human mind makes up stuff and calls the made-up stuff true. That’s the ungodly-thinking fallacy. And since we’ve seen the human mind can only make up stuff, and demons lie, those aren’t rational choices. On the other hand, God gives us revelation of truth, and we can trust this revelation.

Adam and Eve brought the human race into slavery to Satan by simply choosing to yield to Satan’s influence rather than God’s. And even now, demonic principalities and powers try to influence our minds. You choose between these three authorities as they offer the same three choices. You choose which one you’ll listen to. Will you choose demonic influence, the fallen human mind, or divine revelation?

It’s never necessary for anyone who’s following Christ to commit a fallacy, yet we Christians often do commit fallacies. Granted, we must admit we sometimes use the term “following Christ” when we aren’t following Him since we sometimes use the term as a mere figure of speech. In those cases, we follow Christ in theory instead of in practice. So we’re born again, but our attention wanders.

For example, we believe propaganda, something we learned in school, or what we heard on the news. We believe what we heard through a friend, a movie, a book, or a magazine. If we believe it, we become convinced of an ungodly lie. We sometimes follow theological principles instead of listening to Jesus. At these times, we interpret the Bible based on theological worldviews rather than allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to us through the pages of Scripture. In all the examples just given, we aren’t listening to the Holy Spirit’s instruction and direction, and we aren’t thinking, speaking, and acting in submission to the Holy Spirit. Still, if we’ll submit in humble reverence to hear God’s direction when He commands us moment by moment, we have a way forward as God shows us through the following Scriptures.

Teach me both knowledge and appropriate discretion because I believe in your commands. Before I was humbled, I wandered away, but now I observe your words [literally, “I give heed to your utterance”]. ~ Psalm 119:66 International Standard Version

The fear [deep respect] of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline. ~ Proverbs 1:7 International Standard Version

LET US WORSHIP HIM

LET US WORSHIP HIM

LET US WORSHIP HIM

LET US WORSHIP HIM

Let us worship Him, in the beauty of His appearing,
As He makes us one, so the world this Son now may see.
Give Him glory, in the power of His resurrection,
His love casts out all fear, let the trumpet sound, He’s here!

Downward Spiral of Reason

Downward Spiral of Reason

Downward Spiral of Reason

We each have a way we interpret our experiences and observations. Our interpretations are our representations of reality, but they aren’t reality itself. Our interpretations aren’t even the small part of reality that we have observed or experienced. Instead, our interpretations are the thoughts we have about the small part of reality that we’ve observed or experienced. In other words, interpretation is what we have left after we use our minds to think about our observations and experiences. However, it’s not just interpretation of direct observation and experience. Consider how often accept things we heard from some “trusted source” but never saw or experienced for ourselves. So we have these interpretations, and we feed them back into our worldviews as confirmation bias. We reason in a circle. Our worldviews filter our experiences and observations, and then our worldviews confirm themselves with the filtered results, which strengthens the amazing filters that keep you and me from seeing reality as it is.

Downward Spiral of Reason

Downward Spiral of Reason

Reality is what exists. Of course, reality includes microscopic organisms, animals, people, stars, planets, and fossils. And it includes heaven, hell, angels, and demons. It also includes God. Some people have filtered God out by the same process.

We tend to use a certain form of circular reasoning. In this circular reasoning, the worldview generates assumptions and presuppositions. Those assumptions and presuppositions create a filter that filters reality. Then, the filtered impressions of reality return as confirmation bias into the worldview. It’s circular. We see assumptions and presuppositions coming out of the worldview, and as we live our lives, these assumptions and presuppositions don’t seem like made-up stuff. Instead, they seem like part of reality, and they strengthen the filter of the worldview.

Downward Spiral of Reason

This chart is a lot to take in and understand, so we’ll try to paint a picture of how it works:

We each have a way we interpret our experiences and observations. Our interpretations are our representations of reality, but they aren’t reality itself. Our interpretations aren’t even the small part of reality that we have observed or experienced. Instead, our interpretations are the thoughts we have about the small part of reality that we’ve observed or experienced. In other words, interpretation is what we have left after we use our minds to think about our observations and experiences. However, it’s not just interpretation of direct observation and experience. Consider how often we lock into a conclusion based on things we heard from some “trusted source” but never saw or experienced for ourselves. So we have these interpretations, and we feed them back into our worldviews as confirmation bias. We reason in a circle. In short, the worldview filters experience and observation, and then the worldview confirms itself with the filtered results, which strengthens the amazing filter that keeps you and me from seeing reality as it is.

Downward Spiral of Reason

At the top, we see a symbol labeled “Reality,” which represents what exists. Of course, reality includes microscopic organisms, animals, people, stars, planets, and fossils. And it includes heaven, hell, angels, and demons. It also includes God. Some people have filtered God out by the same process.

To the left of reality, we see circular reasoning.

There is no path to truth outside of divine revelation.

There is no path to truth outside of divine revelation.

There is no path to truth outside of divine revelation.

There is no path to truth outside of divine revelation. All godless thinking has a foundation of assumptions. Assumptions have no ability for finding truth. That’s not just the godless thinking of atheists. That includes the thinking of every one of us who, at any moment, aren’t looking to our Lord Jesus for His wisdom and knowledge. There is no true wisdom, knowledge, love, joy, peace, or anything else good outside of Jesus Christ. He’s the Light that lights every person, even those who refuse to acknowledge Him. Unfortunately, those who refuse to thank Him and give Him the glory for the Light lose the distinction between light and darkness.

Truth is reality. Reality is what it is. All wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Christ, and Christ is the Truth. You can’t capture God’s wisdom, knowledge, and truth any more than you can capture the Mississippi River by sticking a glass in it and pulling out a glass of water. The second you separate from Christ, the life goes out of whatever you learned and it becomes dead letter.

Some atheists use a debate tactic of claiming “you have the burden of proof.” It’s a childish way to avoid responsibility. They try to say, “I haven’t made any claim. You claim to know God exists. Prove it.” That way, they don’t have to defend any position since they pretend they have no position. Regardless of the evidence you show them, they just say, “That doesn’t convince me.” Don’t go there with them. They know. God says they know. God says they are without excuse. It’s not your responsibility to convince them.

Since God says everyone knows, believe God. God says they are without excuse. But what an atheist believes has no effect on you. It’s not that you don’t care, but there’s little you can do to help someone who has decided to take a firm position, whether they say “There is no God,” “I don’t know that God even exists,” or “I don’t accept claims of any god until evidence comes to light and belief is warranted.”

You know God exists because you know Him through Jesus Christ. All who seek Christ find Christ. Christ leads, teaches, and corrects all who follow Him. Those who refuse to acknowledge Christ and the wisdom and knowledge He gives lose the distinction between what Christ reveals and the lies demons tell.

LET US SEPARATE OURSELVES

LET US SEPARATE OURSELVES

LET US SEPARATE OURSELVES

LET US SEPARATE OURSELVES

Every Christian’s born into the church.
Every Christian is a member of this church.
We are called out to serve the Lord, our Savior,
Called out to move into the Kingdom of God.

When the Spirit cleanses us through Jesus’ blood.
Let us separate ourselves unto God.

That which is the world is not the church.
That which is the flesh is not the Spirit of our God.
We have been called to come to Light from darkness.
Spirit direct us and teach us the way.

When the Spirit cleanses us through Jesus’ blood.
Let us separate ourselves unto God.

It’s not the church if we have strife.
It’s not the church if we all travel blind.
Jesus’ church isn’t built on man-made doctrine.
God says that we will all have the same mind.

When the Spirit cleanses us through Jesus’ blood.
Let us separate ourselves unto God.

Let Us Separate Ourselves

We need to know the Person Who knows all things

We need to know the Person Who knows all things

We need to know the Person Who knows all things

The human mind can’t reason to truth. It can reason to strongly held opinion. It can create a worldview that seems more real than real reality. Godless thinking (whether from atheists, other Christians, or yourself) is full of pride. We think our own made-up stuff is golden. We find it easy to poke holes in other people’s made-up stuff but not our own.

So what’s the answer. We need to know the Person Who knows all things, in Whom all knowledge and wisdom are hidden, Who IS the Truth, Who can’t lie, and Who wants a close relationship with us in which He leads and we follow. Of course, that’s Christ.

A neurotic person who loves to argue (skeptic) will then claim you can’t know Christ’s voice or discern it from the voices of demons or your own carnal self-talk. And that would seem to be a valid point if a person has no understanding of what God is doing. God has found some, a few, who are willing to allow Him to transform them from glory to glory. As “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” says it, there is “a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me.” The song doesn’t say how He transfigures you, but the Bible does. The way is simple. Listen to God’s voice and yield to His Spirit. Allow His Spirit to obey the Father through you. Yield the members of your body to His righteousness.

God knows our weaknesses. He knows we get it wrong. He planted the seed (the Word, Jesus Christ) in our hearts at some point, and now He is maturing that Word. We are being transformed. Christ is being fully formed in us. Right now, we are in the interim between the promise and the full possession of the promise. Here’s the wonderful part. Anyone who is willing can find Jesus and join us on our journey to the fullness of Truth.

Anyone who wants to can take a stand against what God is doing, but they destroy themselves in the process. Their end will be painful indeed, and, for that, we feel sorry for them.
