Theology and Intellect

Second Corinthians 3:15 says “But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart.” It’s talking about the religious people looking at the Bible and all they see is their rationalized theological ideas. Scripture is revelation. Interpretation of Scripture almost always adds information that’s not in the text. Interpretation adds to God’s words or diminishes some of them. That added information or that filter to say these words don’t apply must come from somewhere. Therefore the person interpreting Scripture must either make up the information using the fallen, deceitful and desperately wicked human mind, receive the information from a demon, or receive revelation from the Holy Spirit. If we lean on our own understanding and try to figure out an answer from Scripture, we will have a rationalized mix of the human mind and the demon mind.
