MAKING UP STUFF
Most atheists and cessationists don’t like to admit they are making up stuff and calling the made-up stuff true. However, to make conclusions about things like truth, the history of the world, the difference between reality and make-believe, spiritual matters, right, and wrong, we need more than just what we can observe, experience, or read in the Bible.
Most cessationist Christians do not think of themselves as rationalists, and yet, cessationism itself is a form of rationalized doctrine. All arguments against divine revelation are rationalized. Most of the church is influenced to some extent by a post-enlightenment mindset that seeps throughout culture, and this mindset is rationalism at the core.
What’s the answer? Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5-6
